Man, everyone's so pissy! |
|
Why did I go to the grocery store? Oh, yeah, because I had to.
If Christmas makes everyone this pissy, why have it???? I think I've started a trend. I'll skip Christmas every year.

1. Sorry you hit the pissy ones |

I was surprised at how nice people were being today. Could have been a fluke.

The clerks were dripping in holiday cheer. Which was no small feat considering how pissy almost every person in the store was. Christmas Eve is the apex of holiday shopping stress. I'm glad all I needed was ribbon. :)

12. Too bad you didn't wave them off when they first started waiting... |

...to let them know you weren't really leaving.

were mostly repugs. They can't just kick back an enjoy the holidays. They've got to remain ever vigilant against us evil Dems. If they don't watch it we may have some gay marriages between now and New Year's.

17. or..somebody might say "happy holidays" instead of |
|
"merry xmas" (the "taking the christ outta christmas" thing). they are on the lookout for that going on, too, just like O'Reilly and Limbaugh told them to. they have their own form of PC it seems.

I finished my grocery shopping yesterday so I wouldn't have to deal with it. Apparently Angel is in a "Bah-humbug" mood. ;-)

7. I went at 7 am this morning. |

It looked as though they were preparing to do battle. Every aisle and end cap was stocked to the max. There must have been 25 people stocking produce, shelves, etc. Glad I was able to get in and out so early.
Last night I was at Kohl's in customer service doing an exchange. This lady comes back and wants to pay for some wrapping paper. Starts complaining about how crowded it is and that's there's a line. Uh, yeah it's Dec 23, did you think there wouldn't be? And actually it wasn't bad. Maybe 5 or 6 people feeding into 3 registers.

8. Yesterday I was at Starbucks.... |
|
sipping my hazelnut latte, writing a bit on my novel and enjoying my day off. This complete asshole came in and started raving because they didn't have the New York Times, but every other Starbuck's in town DID.
The girl behind the counter was very gracious, telling him that she was sorry, but the guy who'd been supplying their copies had injured himself and was in a full body cast-- they weren't sure when he would be back in commission.
So he asked them if they'd be open Saturday morning (duh! It's Christmas!), and when she apologized, saying, no, it's Christmas, he abruptly thundered, "You have lost my business PERMANENTLY!!!!!!!" then turned on his heel and stalked out.
The only thing I could think was, "Well GOOD!"

9. A lady in one of those big mobile shopping wheelchairs almost... |
|
...backed into me.
I mentioned it and she snarled, "Well, I don't have eyes in the back of my head."
Isn't she supposed to look behind her before running me over?
My lumbar region is messed up today, so the hop, skip and a jump I had to do to get out of her way certainly didn't make me feel cheerful.

11. I Lucked Out This Afternoon |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 07:04 PM by CO Liberal
I went into the local Safeway to get a few things. Virtually every checkout counter was open, with huge lines. I got on line next to the only closed lane and resigned myself to a long wait. Suddenly, one of my favorite cashiers walked up to the closed register and turned on the "OPEN" sign. I moved over before anyone else noticed and said, "Good timing, Kim!" as I put my stuff on the counter. Kim laughed and said, "We aim to please, Mr. ______."
(I go there often enough that many of the cashiers and most of the people in the pharmacy know me by name.)

18. Let's face it...there's a certain amount of stress around this time. |
|
Don't deny it. It's the stress of shopping. The stress of making sure you get "enough" gifts for everyone. Just spend even one hour at the mall around Christmas time is stressful.
