This must be the Drown your sorrows Xmas... Liquor store near empty. |
|
Of bottles that is.
I stopped to pick up a bottle of wine for me and a bottle of Scotch or Irish for Mr. Pcat and was stunned. There were no bottles of decent scotch save a very expensive gift pack and the really cheap stuff; a bottle of Tullymore Dew and a Tully gift pack, no Jamesons, and a giftpack of Bushmills white label. No black Bush, no Green Bush. Similar in the rum and vodka department.
The wine section was equally decimated. Mid-ranges all gone.
I took the giftpack of Bushmills and a white merlot and an Australian Shiraz ...
And the store was still packed.
Wonder if the consumption of booze in this town (Adams Co. CO) has anything to do with the fact that this was a near 50-50 town politically. Blunting the family conflicts, so to speak...

I stopped in for a carton of smokes. I got the last one in my brand. Most people were loading up on the hard stuff while several others were getting beer. I thought about grabbing some beer, but I'm not supposed to drink any: doctor's orders.
I think a lot of people are just stressed during the holiday season and need something to wind down. Judging by the looks of things people are going to be doing some serious winding down.
