AP - U.S. confirms that American war planes shot down Santa over Washington D.C. as Santa was approaching the no-fly zone near the White House.
Asked whether the White House would apologize for the mistake, a WH spokesman said "What mistake? We don't make mistakes. Santa was a heathen pagan threatening the White House, so we took decisive pre-emptive action."

every year, NORAD gives 'position reports' on Santa. It's been done for many years... never knew they were trying to arrange an intercept, though.
