Why is Jessica Simpson famous? Seriously. |
|
Is it just because she has a decent singing voice and fits the plastic stick (with fake boobs) blonde barbie look that has been determined to be the ideal of contemporary American culture?
Has she done any good original songs, anything that wasn't a saccharine cover of some old tune?
And will we be flogged with news of her as long as we have been with Britney Spears?
I stumbled across some news article about the new "Dukes of Hazzard" movie where she is to fill shoes, or shorts, of Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke, and had these musings.

|
I had to change the channel. She and, I guess, her husband did a Christmas song and dance. Neither can sing or dance.:eyes:

2. It's truly a mystery to me........ |
|
I can't figure out why any of these young superstars are superstars unless it's the fact that their PR people keep telling us that they're superstars.
The same principle I guess that the * admin uses when they keep telling us that Iraq was a threat to us - if they say it often enough, it'll be true!

7. With Madonna, at least I understand it. Even though she turned out to |
|
never have any acting chops, she is seriously GREAT at "being a star", star attitude, and remaking a persona. Plus her pop tunes are not at all bad, even though her singing voice is just OK I think.
If there were a Nobel Prize for "being a star", Madonna would have won it. She just wasn't good at being an actual actress.
I guess I wonder who actually buys a Jessica Simpson album. Or Britney Spears for that matter. Is it the same army of 14 year old girls who saw "Titanic" 6 times apiece?

I never could understand the popularity of Madonna whom I consider to be a skank with a so-so voice and don't even get me started on her "acting"

See lotsa cola ads.
Buy. Drink. Dispose.
Change brand whenever bored.
What's so great about cola anyway if it weren't for the ads?
Same concept for cigarettes, blahniks, and the next tween sensations!

christian singer then developed big tits and the christians were offended that their little girl grew up and was hot. so they quit buying her records and such so ole dad said...hmmm...secular music for my little retirement fund. so she became a moderate hit cause she`s a hot big titted blond who was perfect for mtv marketing. her husband, the former boy band hunk, was the perfect match for the modern take off on burns and allen. perfect! said the brains at mtv-a level headed husband and a stupid spoiled big tits blond. if you have ever seen her mother, well, you would know where jessica got her talent for being incredibly stupid.

30. Whereas Catherine Bach was like, Meryl Streep? |
|
Not quite. For me, it's just an exchange of brunette T&A for blonde T&A. And Jessica should be able to pull off that "I know I'm sexy, but I'm still cool" thing that Bach had. Think Charlie's Angels (the movie) without all the ass-kicking. I probably still won't see it, but I don't begrudge her the gig.
She's the embodiment of the fantasy every little girl supposedly wants: Grow up pretty, get a little fame, then settle down with the hunky man of her choice admist fan-fare and a $100,000 wedding. She's non-threatening, not particularly bright but not unlikeable, so although folks cant RELATE to her, they don't mind watching her flash that rock around.

13. Beats me. As I recall from my days as a teenage rebel, |
|
I would never have let my parents, the media or any other authority tell me whose songs I should listen to. I distinctly remember one sure way to catapult a rock band to stardom was for adults to not like them.

16. I happened to stumble across her and her husband last night |
|
and she was singing something. It was obviously a Christmas type show. She said her sister Ashlee would also be on. I then realized how out of it I am...I didn't know these two were even related.
Is she a product of reality TV? What else could produce her??

I can't believe that you would question Disney's motives.;) They know whats best for us, they know what we like:eyes: Just goes to prove that anybody can be a star if they have enough media exposure. Hopefully in a couple of years people will be saying "Jessica who?"

I think she is, anyway, and she has a good voice as far as I can hear. Aside from her vapidness, she sets a somewhat good example for the young ladies of this country because she doesn't walk around dressed like a whore and (so far) has a strong marriage with her husband.
I'm also pretty sure her boobs are real.
I dont' listen to that type of music, but I respect her fame.
Personally, I think it would be hilarious if she and Nick would remake all the old "Beach Party" movies.
