Yes, it snows in Hell.
I live in south Texas and we got a whole foot of snow last night between 5pm and this morning. It is truly unbelievable. The only recorded snowfall like this goes back to 1895.

6. We got a dusting of snow here in Houston too!
Very exciting! We only get snow about once every 7 to 10 years.

Covered the rooftops and car tops. Kids ten years old got to make their first snowballs.

As for the political significance, it would be interesting if the Tilden-Hayes presidential election coincided with your last snow, but it doesn't -- that fraudulent election was in 1876.

7. The President and the TX Governor were both Democrats.
Grover Cleveland and Charles Allen Culberson, respectively.

Of course, the party lines weren't in the same place back then as they are now. Lots of Democrats, especially in the South, weren't much different from the Republicans of today.

9. Actually, I don't see anyone shovelling.
They just don't know better. I used a rake and an old broom. We used a broom on the car to clear the stuff away. We saw cars and trucks driving around with a foot of snow on top of the vehicles. :dunce:

11. Victoria. We made the Weather Channel again today.
Last time was when we had a hundred year flood in 1997.

We are really enjoying it. Yesterday, we got the grainy snow because the air was so dry the snow would evaporate and condense before hitting the ground. Then last night the powdery stuff fell for hours. It was too dry to make a snowman this morning, but it is above freezing now and the snow is starting to stick enough to make snow art outside. My husband just finished our snowman.

8. Heard from my Mom down in the Rio Grande Valley
She said there was snow piled on top of the palm trees and everything was covered in snow.

It is truly beyond belief!

15. That's what I was thinking.
I didn't mention it to my relatives, some of which are nice freeper-types, but I was worried about this as well. I didn't want to spoil anyone's Christmas.

Yeah, I see a spike in the price of citrus soon with the Texas Valley produce freezing.
