Name a movie you were excited about
and when it finally came out, it really pissed you off because the film makers fucked it up so badly.

The one that immediately comes to my mind is Godsend. Robert DiNero does not usually make bad films, but this one was complete crap. It was such an interesting premise and they royally fucked it up the ass, in my opinion.

Your Thoughts?

2. Starship Troopers
my all time favorite book turned from classic military science fiction into a crappy tits and ass movie, with bugs.

3. Totally Agree....
on IMDB (message boards) they say there are 4 different endings. Sounds like someone did not really want to know what they wanted to do with this movie! This movie was horrible.

Went to the midnight showing of "Phantom Menace" and literally slept through half of it. Didn't bother to waste my money on the 2nd "prequel".

10. I grew up just loving Star Wars
I was so revved about the new movies coming out. Lucas will need some better screenwriting if he wants to redeem himself with the third.

29. Me, too.
Even read some of the books, the ones with Mara Jade and Joruus C'Boath (I know I spelled it wrong; I don't have the books in front of me)... They were good, but the prequels? :puke: I think they're aiming for a younger audience. But it wasn't just the screen writing; the acting was bad, too.

8. Nemesis, Phantom Menace, Matrix No. 3, and Starship Troopers
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 10:47 PM by Rabrrrrrr
(though Troopers is a lot of fun for what it was, I was initially really pissed that they so desecrated the story and left out everything that made the story so powerful - but it still works as an excellent campy silly adventure movie that I love to watch)

Phantom Menace I was angry within about 10 minutes - as soon as Jar Jar showed up.

Nemesis is the only movie I've been to that I was angry when it was over because I felt so cheated out of money and time, and because it was my beloved Star Trek, the anger was even more intense.

36. I agree on RotK
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 07:21 PM by KDLarsen
.. since TTT sort of made up for it with the extended edition (which FINALLY saw my beloved Ents mash up some orcs.

But wth hit Andrew Jackson when he made RotK? I mean, that ending was soo misplaced, since we never knew whatever happened to Saruman & Grima Wormtongue. The ending in the book made such great sense, since it showed how the hobbits had built over the course of their adventure. The BS that AJ spewed off about how that part of the book had no place in the movie since it was out of sync with the rest of the story, just showed that it was all action & not so much story to him

13. The last Harry Potter flick.
Not that I was all that crazy about the first two movies, but I figured they had to squeeze all the great book stuff into two hours, so of course something or another was going to get cut. As far as screenplay went, this last one wasn't bad, either, considering.

BUT I was totally bugged by this last one, where all the kids at Hogwarts ran around dressed like extras in Old Navy commercials. What happened to their robes? And how come they all dress in contemporary clothes while their parents dress in 19th century fashions and only shop on Diagon Alley where I have never seen an Old Navy or even a GAP?

I don't know why this bugged me so much, but it distracted me throughout the whole movie.

The castle and grounds seemed different too... Maybe they weren't, I may be imagining that, but that bugged me about the movie too.

I didn't like Chamber of Secrets either.

33. The grounds were different.
I was also bugged by that at first, but then my friend said she just figured Dumbledore was such a powerful wizard, he had probably just changed the grounds to add some variety to the school year. Not in the book, mind you, but perfectly plaudible.

After that, the new grounds didn't bug me.

17. Star Trek's First Contact and Nemesis, Star Wars schlepisodes 1 & 2...
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 11:00 PM by HypnoToad
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow...

First Contact's trailer/teaser was suspenseful and engaging. The movie itself was a cheap laugh of a farce. Which is sad because the plot concepts (aside from more dreary time travel and bad Voyager cameos) had much potential.

Nemesis was badly written crap. Two words: John Logan. Everything he's done, in terms of writing, is sheer cow patties. Brent Spiner "it's all about Data and ripping off Star Treks 2 and 3" did not help.

Star Wars is obvious...

Sky Captain was just overhyped, complete with sub-Indiana Jones plot and cardboard stereotyped cutouts.

26. Scarlet Letter...Zoolander...King Kong??
Okay, I should have known Demi Moore as Hester Prynne wasn't going to work. But still. Love the book, was over the moon that Gary Oldman was Dimmesdale. I wanted to kill someone after that film. Honest.

Zoolander--I love Ben Stiller, still love Ben Stiller. But hoped for a LOT more.

King Kong didn't even come out yet, but god damn, that is a film about a huge monkey. Big deal. Very excited, though, because of Peter "After LOTR I could film the phone book and studios would pay me millions" Jackson and Adrien "tjdee's future husband" Brody. :loveya: And Jack Black and Jamie Bell. But I'm afraid it will be Godzilla II.

I expected it to be as great as Pitch Black. It had plenty of action, but I was just not thrilled with it. But of course, I love Vin Diesel.
