2. How's this: I don't know. |
|
I have parts stacked to the ceiling in boxes. I am planning on building computers out of them, but I don't know how many computers the parts equal. Probably about six or seven, but even then I'll have to buy more parts.

A Commodore 64, a Mac Plus, an old Mac Powerbook, a Mac desktop, vintage 1995, an iBook, and an iMac G5. I don't know what to do with obsolete computers, so they just accumulate.

25. I'll have different ones running different tasks, |
|
some for work, some for the family. Some serving music, some running different O/S's, compiling code, dedicated to Gaming, dedicated for burning.
Basically, if you don't know why you would need several, you don't need them.

One Dell Dimension Desktop that's four years old and showing its age; one Compaq desktop given to me that'll be replacing the Dell shortly; and an IBM Thinkpad that I haven't used in ages, 'cause it's on Windows 3.11!

36. Oh, wow, this is my story! |
|
There's the one I'm on right now I rummaged up from my parent's house after hubby's laptop died (hubby's laptop goes in my total, because what's mine is mine and what's his is mine). His laptop I was using because I killed (or rather, some kind of hand of god electrical event appears to have killed) my previous desktop. Hubby's laptop is screwed up, I believe, due to some kind of potentially irreconcilable spyware/aol/microsoft goofiness--I believe it it can be fixed, but eh? And then I have another PC desktop at my parent's house, which my brother is making into a Frankenputer with the remains of the zapped one.

14. Somewhere around 18 or so useable PC's of different vintages. |
|
Going from my fist computer, a TI-99/4A which I still have in its entirety, to the homebuilt one I'm using now and several in between. Plus about 8 laptops, from an early TI 286 to the Toshiba P-III I use now. I'm just a packrat.

29. Well, I know the Mac is more of a toy, but it is technically a PC. |

Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 04:02 PM by HypnoToad
"Personal Computer" is the official term for any consumer-grade computer. Personal. :D
I know it isn't a toy by any means, but I had to get your attention. :spank:
BTW: Please READ my post. I had included my Mac LC III as one of my computers from the vert start, knowing Mac users are just as welcomed to respond. O8)

to build one, maybe two more. I have one that is a dedicated music workstation in my studio, one internet computer at home and another internet computer I keep at work so I can surf without prying company eyes watching what I'm doing.
I have a big box of parts with I know a couple of good motherboards and processors, assorted video cards, ram etc.
Oh, and I have an old Packard Bell out in the shed, but I never really considered that to be a computer in the first place.

37. I donate the ones that aren't up to snuff, if they want them... |
|
And they usually do, because they have volunteer geeks who help them to upgrade them cheaply, use them for parts, etc. One PC went to a school, one to a charity for developmentally disabled adults to either use or sell in their thrift shop, one older Mac to the same thrift shop, and my Amiga to a charity that helps the homeless in LA, who had someone who actually knew how to use it. We bought it to do graphics on and could never get the support we needed to figure the thing out. We did manage to play "It Came From the Desert" on it, which was a great game based on the movie "Them" and you battled giant ants. Wish we had it for the PCs. Our in-use computers are 2 desktop HP PCs, one Mac G4 and this pretty new HP laptop.
