Think about it:

Kirk Franklin puts out a lot of gospel music, but doesn't sing any gospel at all.

Lil Jon puts out a lot of rap, but doesn't rap at all.

He's a producer, and he does a little screaming on the side.

Has he ever claimed to be a rapper? I doubt it. Being a part of rap music doesn't necessarily make one a 'rapper'.

... he tries his hand at rapping. Enough that I would say he is a rapper/producer.

Either way the argument is the same. It's cool but he just yells catch phrases.
