Poll question: If you had to lose one of the five senses,
which would you least want to part with?

3. I'm not really sure, but I don't think so.
I don't think that counts as a sense. Maybe someone here in the medical field could tell us a bit more about that.

2. Remember taste is only the sensation of sweet, sour, bitter and salt.

What most people think of as taste is actually smell. Flavors are just stuff smelled up through the rear of the oral cavity to the nose. Smell is by far a more powerful sense.

6. Smell...
Imagine never being tortured by other people's farts anymore (of course, as George Carlin's said, your own farts aren't a problem)...;)

8. Sight would be number one
followed by sound.

With ever so subtle losses of each since I turned 40, I have a glimpse at how much I would/will miss them.

It bugs me that I can no longer thread a needle on the very first try.

I think I say "What?" or "say that again?" more now, too.

10. Imagine?
Being anosmic, it's a reality for me...I couldn't tell you what a fart smelled like if your rear was in my face...

Kind of like being color-blind, only with smell. :)

11. I'm sorry to hear of your affliction, Longgrain...
Given how integral sense of smell is to taste, it must really suck...:(

12. I can taste perfectly...
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 08:24 AM by Longgrain
And can "smell" sort of.

It's just that smells mean nothing to me, everyone talks about their sensation of oder, but I, personally, could never relate.

It's okay tho. On the plus side, I have no trouble driving past a squashed skunk. ;)

I could get around without my hearing. But to be engulfed in total darkness all of the time...
