Bad news for you Dish Network customers! |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 10:29 AM by bush still has to go
Looks like Charlie has been busy with the after Christmas coal deliveries--we're gettin another rate increase come February :puke:
Looks to be another 2 bucks a month for AT60(+) customers, 3 bucks a month for AT120/180/RAI customers, and 4 bucks for America's Everything customers. No word on any increases for networks, superstations, or any "nag" fees.
Definitely appears that I'm going to be cutting back to AT120 (or away to the antichrist--ie DirecTV)...$66+ a month is ridiculous (15% increase since 2002).

1. or cut down on the number of channels |
|
there is a little known option you can get-10 channels for $15. We've had that for years. You get to pick the channels from the top 40 or whatever the lowest 'package' is. We get A&E, History, Sci Fi, AMC, TNT, Discovery, TLC, CNN (gonna change that one), Weather, and Travel. Don't feel the need to get any more than that, and the cost has stayed low. I'll see though, when I get my next bill.

I'll bet you any amount of money it was the usual suspects (ESPN, et al) that whined for more money and got it. Damn shame we can't get ala carte in motion (but of course, *co wouldn't have it).

3. Do you happen to remember the name |
|
of this 10-channel plan? I'd like to request it, and if my experience with the telephone service folks holds true, I won't be able to get it unless I ask for it specifically.

6. It's called "Dish Pix" |
|
But it looks like only those people that already had the package can keep it (grandfathered)...in other words, they don't offer it as an option if you didn't already have it.

And phooey. Guess I'll just cut down to the basic package. I'm thinking of giving up my telephone land line too.

5. Makes me glad I never switched from cable to satellite. |
|
I'd heard that there was a big cost advantage. But now that I've heard this I think otherwise. I get about 70 cable and local channels plus Roadrunner for less than 100 bucks a month. Looks like I'll probably stick with it.
