can anyone help me fix my coffee urn?
I have a 45 cup coffee urn -- the kind with the handle at the bottom that you lift up to make coffee come out.

The other night, the handle came off. It doesn't look broken, but I don't know how to put it back on again. There is a little white nub where the handle used to be, the handle itself, and a little grey rubber stopper.

Any suggestions? (other than taking it back because although I haven't used it much, it is a couple of years old and complaining to the company, because their suggestion was to mail it to Canada).

Thanks

:-)

3. I'm assuming that this coffee urn is in a restaurant? If so.
Call up the restaurant equipment folks they'll be more than glad to help you. Trust me!

4. no, it's a home use thing
for parties and such. that's part of the problem.

It is a few years old -- so I don't have a receipt or even really remember where I bought it except to know that it wasn't in the same city I live in now -- but I've only used it a few times so I really don't want to throw it away!

9. Well then, I'm sure that a simple appliance repairman could come
up with a solution in New York minute.

it looks easy to fix, I just didn't know how. a poster below suggested I buy a new spigot, which seems like a plan

5. I'd mail myself to Canada
And leave the urn here. :D

Sorry I don't have a suggestion, but I ought to have one of those myself. :hangover:

6. Replace the spigot.
You can buy a replacement spigot here. http://spigots.net/

Looking at mine, it looks like the spigot will twist out and a new one can be screwed in. Check for leaks by filling with cold water. If it leaks, get a tube of food-grade silicone caulking at the hardware or restaurant supply store (MAKE SURE IT'S FOOD SAFE) and caulk carefully on the outside of the spigot.
