A day when people boxed up their old shit and gave it to the poor to a day when people go out and buy more shit for themselves.

Even then the sales are not what they used to be. It was a time where things were half off and stuff...now it's all buy one get 25 per cent of and shit.

5. don't forget to pay the servants !
always seem very ironic. . .the tradition of paying the servants after the holiday so they couldn't enjoy it for the holiday. Maybe they thought they were saving the servants from squandering it.

13. I think it's based on an Old English tradition
When the wealthy land owners would either leave money in their servants poor boxes the day after Christmas, or present them with boxes of food and gifts...I've heard both explanations.
