I'm organizing my books, and I went to sit down on my chair and missed. The chair went skidding in one direction; I went skidding in the other.
My left butt cheek is sore now, and not in a good way.
:(
There are stacks of books everywhere. It's a total disaster in here. I feel like Burgess Meredith, except I can read without my glasses.

I'm used to it, actually. Heating pad's not a bad idea, though. Thanks! :hi:

6. I used to fall a lot, too- |

balance problems, something I've had since birth, I think ( I didn't walk until I was 2, I think). I've gotten a balance ball for my back, and it has helped my balance and posture a lot-and it is fun sitting on the thing and rolling around! Maybe this would help you.

I got mine in the sporting goods dept. of KMart-it is called a Total Body Ball, and came with an instruction booklet. My neighbor let me borrow an instruction video she had. My chiropractor recommended it as I get back strain from sitting at a desk for long hours (I'm a secretary). Draping myself over the ball, rolling over the ball or stretching my back over the ball have really helped my back, and sitting on the ball doing stretches has done wonders for my balance. I went out today in the snow, and didn't fall down or even feel like I was going to, which is a first for me. GAIAM, a company online, also has them for sale-that's where the instruction video came from, and it was more helpful than the pamphlet that came with the ball.

11. I fell down the stairs the other day |

carrying a bunch of Christmas decorations in preparation for a party. Smashed all of them to bits. Thank God for Ebay.
Oh, and my back is still killing me, my left thigh now hurts and I have pins and needles in my fingers of my left hand. I think I need to see a chiropractor, pronto.

12. I had a similar fall last year |
|
I had just completed a round of physical therapy after a car accident when I fell. Went straight to the doctors office & got a new round of PT for Christmas. . .
My PT told me this - ice it 20 minutes out of each hour that you're awake for the first two days, and heat it after that. On top of that, and take ibubrofen. I had a script for 800 milligrams written, but if you have Advil or Motrin, take as many as is necessary to meet that dose. I felt better within a couple of days.
I feel your pain, and I hope you're feeling better soon!

Ice is far better than heat (though not so comforting). Ice inhibits the flow of blood to the area (which is what causes swelling and bruising) while heat actually encourages it.
I found out the hard way that you can actually break a vertabra falling on your butt so if you find you have pain for longer than a day or two, or if it's extreme, get it checked out. You may actually have cracked or broken something.
