Father in-law had a Christmas heart attack last night
Fortunately, it was a small one--he'll be fine. But I'm mad as hell at him because, not wanting to inconvenience anyone, he DROVE HIMSELF to the hospital. An 80-year-old man having a heart attack driving himself to the hospital--geez. At least he took himself to the hospital this time. Last time he had a heart attack, he was too busy and didn't go in until he'd had chest pain for two days.

1. Sounds like a depression survivor,
WW11 survivor, as well. Why do they all down play this stuff?

2. He was lucky-----a lot of older folks are like that though---
stubborn and independent.

I wish him well!

4.  I know a man who sensed he was having a stroke
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 06:04 PM by Malva Zebrina
and drove himself to the hospital, which was a fifteen minute or more, drive. He had had carotid surgery and had experienced stroke earlier. Knew the symptoms and drove himself to the hospital. His wife, who was working at the time, was furious at him, as much as she could be, given the circumstances.

He is also somewhere in his seventies and still walking around every day enjoying every bit of life and giving back, as he says.
