Would you take a pre-inauguration gig? |
|
I'm leaning towards saying no, even though January is a pretty slim work month for me. It's a 3 hour gig, and the contractor, a good friend with whom I've worked for years, wasn't able to tell me how much it paid...the agent told her only that it would be worth our time.
I guess we could play string quartet arrangements of protest songs...

1. I'd love to hear "Masters of War" played by a string quartet. |
|

2. I'm not in your shoes, but I'd take it...make some extra money |
|
and protest afterwards.
The chances are they'd find somebody else (although not as good, I'm sure!) if you turned it down. Anyway, for what it's worth, that's what I think.

9. Somehow, I feel like this isn't just a gig... |
|
Not that I haven't played for rude arrogant assholes before; but I've never played for a group that I so intently despised.
In fact, I turned down a December gig at a fundy church this year, just because they are of that same lunkheaded mindset.

Performing as you do is something that you give from your heart or soul. Lugging steel or driving a fork truck as I do is just a job, and is the same for me no matter who pays. So you do as your heart and soul guide you, I trust you will be free Jan. 20th ! :hi:

If Bush is the inaugur-ee, there's no way in hell I'd take it. But that's me! I've resigned many an opportunity and job because I wasn't "feeling" it for whatever reason! And it makes for some hard times!
But, when that one door closes, another one always opens. Maybe not as quickly as I'd like, but the next job/experience that comes along is always better than whatever I gave up!

14. At least you'd be taking their money rather than giving them money. |
|
That'd be one way of looking at it.
