Over and under on whether or not they'll find coke or steroids in Reggie? |
|
Or meth?
I have no idea.
Just a question. It could have been congenital.

Black people have a higher statistical incidence of cardio-vascular disease. That said, steroid use is the gift that keeps on giving, long after you quit taking them.

4. Maybe your post wasn't flame bait, but I'll treat it that way |
|
I wouldn't know Reggie White if he walked in and introduced himself to me. I don't follow football and had no idea that he was noted for anything in that sport.
That said, the reports of his death indicate that it was a heart attack. Why inflame people with your idiotic and offensive suggestion that drugs were involved. And then saying, disingenuously, that you have no idea, just a question.
Nonsense. Your post is racist and offensive.
Mods. Delete if you must. But the entire thread should probably be deleted. If I were a mod, I would have, and I would have nuked the poster.

5. Funny. I didn't take it as being either racist or offensive .. |
|
and I'm a prude.
I merely took it as commentary on the sad state of athletics - pro sports. Paticularly in view of Caminetti's death and Lyle Alzedo's.
Too many fine athletes die as a result of steroid use .. or mixing that with alcohol/drug abuse. Takes a horrible toll on the body - from which most never recover.

6. Okay, maybe I should let this go, but. . . |
|
He was retired. He's no longer a public figure. Sorry, but I think there was something nasty implied. Certainly I chose to infer that there was.
Maybe if this guy had a history of drug use, real or publicly speculated, then perhaps there's some cause. But in the absence of any indication to that effect, it's offensive.

8. You are wrestling with something within yourself |

Perhaps it is you that prejudicially links drug use with black skin?
Because I sure as hell didn't. And I don't.

I'm going to have to check it out, but I believe, before he found religion, in his younger days, he may have imbibed or experimented. I seem to recall it, but I have to check it out.
What comes to mind is Gov. Arnold in SoCal. My family includes doctors and nurses who've been in the area for years. Rumor had it, within the local medical community, that Gov. Arnold kind of fibbed when he said that he had a minor corrective surgery on a congenital heart valve problem. Rumor had it that they had his heart out of his body twice, and spend a lot of time and effort repairing damage to his heart that had been caused by steroid abuse. It often goes untreated or undiagnosed.
Sad. If it was steroid-related damage that factored in, I hope the family lets that come out. That kind of information may help save someone from significant abuse of them (steroids).

Maybe Matt819 is just having a bad day. I didn't mention Reggie's color because it has nothing to do with anything.

You're going WAAAYYY overboard here, it's a good thing that AREN'T a mod. I didn't see anything wrong with the post, especially in light of the fact that far too many athletes are doping up and coking up. I find your overdramatic vitriol hard to swallow.

12. My take is a bit more positive ... but he's still dead. |
|
How many tears in his major blood vessel did he endure being the great defensive monster as he was? Not to the point of hemorrhage, but weakening - want to bet it was an aortic aneurysm?
May he rest in Peace with Jesus, his Lord and Savior.

It would be better if instead of rotting in hell, his existence came to a complete and final end. That way, he'd be both dead *and* wrong about the existence of an afterlife. What great payback for a homophobic asshole.
