IIRC, John Amos HATED "Good Times." I remember reading some article where he talked about how he, John Amos, a trained Shakespearean actor in the Paul Robeson mold, was disgusted that the only work he could get on television as a black man, was this undignified ghetto comedy. Apparently he was gritting his teeth through the whole series.

Anyhow, Jimmy Walker was the superior actor.
