2. Thanks
I decided to take pictures as I was doing this - the digital camera time-stamps everything, so I knew how long it took to do everything.

A little over an hour, including all the trips I kept making into the house because I forgot stuff I needed. :-)

11. They look very similar
inside. Colorado prairie dust is probably very similar to Kansas prairie dust.

4. A little over an hour. Not bad.
Minor suggestion though. I would have tested the radio before I reassembled the dash. Saves you more work if your radio isn't hooked up right. But then again if all you had to do is plug in the wires and not attatch them separately, it might not be a necessary.

8. The New Radio and The Wiring Adapter....
...had all the wires color-coded exactly the same. (Looks like they've standardized wire colors.) I felt I had it right, so I waited until after reassembly to test it.

12. Step 2 - Battery terminal disconnected.
I'm not making fun of you, every manual I read says to do that step, but I never have. 17 years of working on car electronics and I've never had one that did any damage while installing a stereo. I think the possibility of damaging the battery terminal is greater than the possibility of doing damage with a short circuit. I laugh in the face of the possibility of short circuits. :)

15. With My Luck....
...I would have done something nuder the dashboard to set off the air bags. I feel safer with the battery disconencted. Besides, it's a Chevy with a side terminal battery. They don't get chewed up like the post-type batteries.

18. What? They Didn't Have One With A DARKER Faceplate?
I mean... come on now! Honestly!! What will people think about your inability to coordinate colors?

Do you just not care?? What's the world coming to when people stop caring what others think about them?

And what will they think when they find out that your new CD player is worth MORE than your truck?

I'm also concerned that the brightly contrasting face plate will be a BEACONING INVITATION to thieves who can easily spot your new electronics with just a casual glance in the window. I'm tellin ya... that's just begging for trouble.

22. Actually, Chinese
I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I bought it at WalMart.

At $74, it was the cheapest CD player with digital tuning I could find. All the others under $120 were manual tuning - this one allows you to store 18 FM stations and 12 AM - not that there are that many stations worth listening to in the Pueblo area....
