LASIK surgery veterans: Thumbs up or down on your experience?
Would you risk your eyes again if the opthamologist recommended "touch up" surgery on followup?

1. Absolutely!!!
"Enhancements" are not uncommon, especially in the Fall months. I wore contacts from 1965 to 2001, and struggled mightily with the decision to have the surgery. I couldn't be happier! Go for it!

2. Wife is the LASIK vet. I am lucky enough to still not need visual
correction of any kind.

3. I personally know one DU'er who has had nothing but
trouble with Lasik. It seems to be an individual experience.

4. Yep, it's an individual experience.
One of my best friends has constant problems. My nephew had it and couldn't be happier.

5. Yes, my wife has had it, and is overall quite happy. On followup
she was recommended for "enhancements" (vision not quite 20/20). There is a 1 year guarantee for free "enhancement" if vision not 20/20.

I am a physician. I perform medical procedures for a living. I see everything as a risk of complications, including a rare risk of SERIOUS complications such as total visual loss. A wise man in my field once said "I could take a thousand patients, give them a drink of water, and some would have complications".

If things are going OK it seems to me even a very small risk of catastrophe just to make things "perfect" is not warranted. My way of looking at it. She is giving the matter some consideration...

9. my only regret is I didn't do it sooner
It's the best thing I ever did for myself.

Some people's eyes do over-heal and they need a second procedure but I did not. If I needed it though I wouldn't hesitate. It was painless and it was like a miracle.
