Does anyone feel sorry for Lindsey Lohan?
I don't. I don't feel sorry for the rich and famous who whine about being rich and famous.

Oh, and her atrocious song is stuck in my head :(

2. Well, not really -
But it does seem as though she's had to deal with a lot of crap from her parents and their issues.

Can someone remind me again why she's famous?

5. I think that there have been a lot of false rumors

And I don't think her album is bad. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. :-) I even bought it on iTunes. She has a lot of money and is pretty, though - and her problems aren't that bad compared to what many are going through. She seems just fine since her hospital stay.

27. What are her problems?
I mean I have heard that awful song on MTV (I thought it was britney spears at first) but what is she whining about?

8. Heh. I've never heard her atrocious song
and no, why would I feel sorry for her?

There are many in the world far more deserving of sympathy than her. Thousands of Iraqis, for example.

9. Well, I think she's not unpleasant to look at, but that's what her career
is built on. Most of the current crop of "stars" are manufactured, and succeed, for a while, because of their youth, and not because of any shining talent. It would get hard to deal with celebrity if you knew there was no good reason for it in the first place.

12. I wouldn't be so quick to call them manufactured
I'm sure they do a lot of work. Lindsay is a good actress as well as a decent singer IMO.

But I'm constantly arguing this here and I don't see us changing each other's mind.

19. Oh, I don't doubt for a minute they work hard, but there is a certain
generic quality about many of them. But maybe it's just the generic music and generic parts they play...if given a chance, maybe they'd be good. I'd give 'em another listen in that case, but I can't see the industry letting that happen any time soon...

25. Well, I guess it serves a purpose...I just don't dig it.
I wish that the stuff wasn't put together with the sole purpose of being a hit.

28. Again, that doesn't determine whether it's good or not
Songs made for the radio can be quite catchy in a good way. But we'll have to differ.

29. I just think that commercial intent diminishes the creative breadth
How does anything new get created when everything sounds familiar, which is the nature of a "hit"

but sometimes I just like hearing a good pop hit. I just don't listen to the pop songs I hate. BTW, a hit doesn't have to be familiar.

33. Growing up, the local station, for a while, had no format
so you'd hear, for example, Willie Nelson followed by Metallica...it was awesome!

34. Even satellite radio could use a better mix of genres
I've heard that XM is better than my Sirius in that department. But Mike Malloy is reason enough by himself to have Sirius IMO.

Well, I have to go. Hope you can find a station you like. :hi:

10. Where did she whine about being rich and famous?
I remember seeing her on local cable (on Long Island) making an appearance along with Alec Baldwin in support of his mother's charity. She seemed pretty down to earth then.

13. I really love it when the wealthy and famous tell us how hard life is.
Poverty makes the best music because it reflects reality. Once you reach a certain level of success you are not qualified to complain about how tough it is being you. And if you complain about how the press is unfair, you should be shot. You got into this business, fuckhead. Get used to the shit that comes with it and smile.

18. If you don't like the press, fuck with them.
John Lydon called a meeting of the press once to announce that the Sex Pistols were reuniting for a tour. The meeting was held on a boat, and unbeknownst to the members of the British press that had showed up there, Lydon was sending them on a fools errand. He payed a Pistols cover band, the Scottish Pistols, to play nonstop on the four hour boat ride on the river Thames he had trapped the media buffoons on. That is how you deal with the press.

is a good plan. It's just that even celebs deserve a LITTLE privacy, like when they go see a family member or friend in the hospital or something like that.

14. Here is how totally uncool I am
I have no idea who Lindsey Lohan is, I don't think I know her song, and I would not recognize her if I was driving a truck and hit her square on the grillwork.

Thus, I cannot feel sorry for her. She may be rich, but in my world, she is not only NOT famous, she is UNKNOWN!

Maybe that might make her happy...not EVERYONE knows who she is!

20. she's an actress (19 or 20?) who put out a record
she was in a remake of the Parent Trap a few years ago. More recently, she was in a remake of Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis, and a movie called Mean Girls.

Based on what I read in line at the grocery store, she has a screwed up family with a father in and out of jail.

It was a nice modern take. Better than I expected. The music to is what I'd hoped Lindsay's music would be like.

35. Oi, did not see the films, not a one!!!
I'm one of those impatient old farts, I won't sit through a film unless it is well received by those "liberal" types! I finally got around to seeing Mystic River, and my, Clint Eastwood is to be commended. With the exception of a crappy accent or two, it was very true to the region....creepy, but good.

And I have no relatives who are currently in the "teen girl" movie demographic....! No "Mean Girls" in my future, at least for now!

If she's the top talent on offer, perhaps I am lucky!
