OMG! Jim Carrey is going to play The Six Million Dollar Man
Yes, Jim Carrey is going to play Col. Steve Austin.

Jim Carrey: The actor has the ability to change instantly into about a million different characters without breaking a sweat, but can he play a rugged he-man capable of keeping bad people from doing evil things? That will be the question on Lee Majors mind this week. Carrey has been signed by Dimension Films to star in a feature film based on the tube sci-fi action series The Six Million Dollar Man to be directed by Todd Phillips (Road Trip). In the 1970s, Majors had the muscular build necessary to take on the role of Col. Steve Austin. It will be interesting to see how much Carrey has to beef up in order to carry Austin to the big screen.

2. Oh boy another 70s Televison Show as the source of a Movie. Soon
if not already, America will no longer have the export market for entertainment. Another thought: why are Americans looking back so much in entertainment?- Maybe we don't like what we see now or in the future.

4. Oh, dear...
...well, maybe this will be a parody film like the Austin Powers movies?

For everyone's sake, I certainly hope this won't be played for straight drama. :scared:

6. Has to be a spoof. And it sounds like fun.
Those 70's action hero's took themselves WAY too seriously.

13. If they can do it like how The Brady Bunch Movie was made,
then I'd see it.

Brady Bunch was a cognitive, self-aware spoof and right on the money.

Many tv->movie remakes try to be serious (Mission impossible) or camp/ham it up (the others); either concept of which ruins the memory of the original and insults it (especially if the original was well made) and is a waste of money and film. And I've yet to see an actor in any of those movies that's actually GOOD. Tom Cruise not excepted.

15. Heck, back in the 70s we'd joke about that price!
So, now it would probably be the $6 billion man with his support services done by Halliburton.

20. $6 mil would probably be enough for a bionic middle finger
Chimp could use one of those for his Texas salutes!

9. I'm sick of all these repeat movies based on old movies or old TV..
shows. The talentless creativity coming out from Hollywood is appalling. Can't they make a movie w/o repeating the same stuff over and over. I have friends who get pissed because I tell them the plot and I never even seen the new movie.

10. Oh good grief. You'd think that as all tv->movies get shit ratings, they'd
STOP MAKING THEM.

But, noooooooooooooooooooooooo. They continue to make new ones.

and, quite frankly, "The Bionic Woman" was better anyway.

Albert made $10 mil.

"Meet the Fuckers" was #1, go fig.

And I suspect Fat Albert won't be rising. It's a goofy live action movie that's too tedious for today's audiences, and considering Bill Cosby wasn't keen on doing it, I'm surprised he's a cameo in it.

(edit: Spelling)

Edit 2, additional: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/reviews/?id=fatalbert.htm The plot reminds me of the CBS "Cosby" show where Cosby's character fell asleep and thought he was Alexander Scott of "I Spy". It was cool to see the Cos w/Robert Kulp again, and I must say that "Cosby" episode beat the shit out of that horrid movie that bastardized the whole series.

17. I thought the first Fat Albert special was great and funny. I saw it on a
very old video tape- I was told it was made before the animation company "Filmtation" took it over and ruined it according to the owner of the tape. Cosby's preachy attitude on the show made it feel like school. When I was home on Saturday I did not want to feel like I was in school. Fat Albert made me feel like I was in school- so I was usally outside playing when it came on Saturday. The other two networks Saturday morning Kids schedule were usually over by the time Albert came on.

18. I sure hope that Julia Roberts is talked into playing "The Bionic Woman"!
Goodness, there aren't enough of those old television shows turned into boring, vacuous, inane movies out there!

19. She'd be perfect casting. Ar far back as that godawful
"Sleeping with the Enemy", she can't land a movie that's got a decent plotline... and she can't act a damn either.
