Just bought the Napolean Dynamite DVD last night.
It is safe to say that, beyond a doubt, that is my favorite movie of 2004. All of the characters are incredible; and the whole concept of the move is hilarious. Although I have found that it is one of those movies that people either think is hilarious or totally idiotic (IDIOT!). Thoughts?

7. definitely not "dumb" humor in the category of dodgeball or old school
at all. the laughs are more from the awkward moments that the characters experience. it reminds me a lot of english humor (or "humour" if you will), especially the office (i.e. the laughs are from the awkward interactions between the characters)...

20. Dodgeball was funny - - - Old School was funnier
I break ribs laughing at Old School.

Napoleon Dynamite wasn't in any way funny.

I've found documentaries about paint funnier and more entertaining.

In the case of ND, I just couldn't even find humor at a microscopic level.

Great low-key story - hilarious and a nice 'feel good' ending.

32. In the beginning
When Napolean throws the action figure with a string attached to it out the school bus window. I just about died laughing. It was great how they never explained that either. It was just on of those "what the fuck" moments

and try to hit me?" and then the doorbell rings, Napolean says "i'll get it", and then slaps Kip in the face. I found that fairly amusing :D

Well, since thanks to Napoleon Dynamite I now believe in Hell and that Hell is being forced to watch Napoleon Dynamite, I guess that means I am screwed.

Worst. Movie. Ever.

loved it the second time (picked up on a lot of things he'd missed the first time). it's simple: if you don't like napolean dynamite; you do not have a sense of humor :P

26. I liked it
It was quirky and I liked Napolean's comebacks. I would love to see Napolean in another role. One really wonders if that kid is like that in real life, so on that, it was some good acting because the line between real and imaginary is completely blurred. The characters were all believable, the setting was believable, the quirkiness was believable, the fact that those things were believable made it a very strange film.

28. he does a commentary on some scenes in the DVD version, but
you only hear his voice (they never show him talking about the scenes). i'm actually glad, b/c i think it would ruin his role for me if i saw what he looked like in everyday life :D

33. Saw it this weekend and loved it.
It isn't perfect, there are some questionable stereotypes, the depth of the writing is indeed limited, it's indicative of the national dumbing down of the US, but I liked what was there.

I liked Napoleon OWNING the stage during his buddy's debate, I liked his creepy uncle and dufus brother, I liked the photography girl, and I liked the pace of the movie.

My wife however did not. I understand her problems with it, but ultimately I enjoyed a trip to whacked out Idaho.
