Well, the neurologist said my EEG and MRI looked fine. (the MRI had shown a benign cyst, no big deal.) He did say that he recommended surgery for the protruded disc, given my age.
For the dizziness, at all, he was not sure - but he did refer me to an ear specialist.
The EEG, he said, was normal. My parents asked if he'd made a mention of ADD (apparently, an EEG can show if a person has ADD). I said he made no mention but I forgot to ask. Could the neuro have not thought about it?
But for the neck surgery he recommends, should I go through with it or fiddle-fart around with therapy (with my luck, it'll be the same thing as going to a chiropractor and THEY are known to cause paralysis)
Thanks!
P.S. Sorry for the subject line's risque content.
Edit: Subject line too racy for daytime TV. Unless you're Maury Povich.

1. I had surgery on my neck... |
|
day after Christmas a couple years ago. Some type of growth/tumor/god know's what. It was fun! Getting sedated and such. And it didn't hurt. The scar is a bitch though, i hate having an inch scar on my throat, blech.
Cut!
Best of luck.

2. Did the doc say that surgery will really help your problem? |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 05:32 PM by bigwillq
I would go ahead with the surgery just to get it done with before it gets worse, if it can get worse.
Glad the other tests came out o.k.:hi:

But it wasn't my call ! I was really young.
As far as the surgery on your neck, I'd say no. I refused the surgeries and went to a chiropractor. My neck and back are much better and I haven't had a blinding migraine in over a year.

4. Don't let them touch your neck, back. |
|
Everyone I've known who has had back surgery has needed another back surgery. My sister had a terrible extrusion in her back, opted out of the surgery after heavily researching and is now healed. She recommends reading Dr. Sarno. Just my thoughts, good luck.

12. If I knew I had a future, I'd be wary... |
|
But look at the economy, the world, the * in charge. What's the point of being useful when there's nothing to apply one's usefulness too?
Yes, I have thought of going under the knife, hoping they sneeze at just the right moment. :-(
No, this isn't depression. This is *'s reality. 'Culture of life' is a joke, amongst a thousand million other reflections of our joke of a species that in of itself deserves to be wiped out by this point.

5. I suggest the physical therapy...but make sure it's a GOOD one |
|
As I said in one of your earlier posts on this subject, I had similar symptoms caused by degeneration in the discs, and a few months of physical therapy was helpful.
Proper therapy will involve minimal manipulation, unlike chiropractic. Better to put your energies into physical therapy first and see if the situation improves before considering surgery. "Cut" should always be the last resort, IMHO.
And yeah, I thought this was gonna be another subject entirely. :bounce:

10. Look into acupuncture. |
|
Speaking from personal experience, they get great results with soft tissue and joint pain. Although I'm not entirely clear what your neck problem is. Acupuncture rocks! every time I go in for some problem I walk out feeling better.

13. EEG detecting ADD, I don't think so... |
|
I haven't heard anything about an EEG (or even an MRI) being able to detect ADD (Attention Defecit Disorder). I think that your parents may be misinformed.
As for the neck injury, I would get a second opinion from another physician, before making a decision.
