13. We're actually close in opinions

But MUCH different in tactics. We both abhor the centrist bloc of the party, but differ on how to incorporate the role of progressives in setting the agenda - how much compromise is too much, which issues are negotiable, should we splinter or should we change it from within, etc. We're both pro-labor, pro-civil rights, pro-feminist lefties in the end. I was often mistaken for a centrist (ugh) because of my innate pragmatic streak. I believe I am more cynical than Uly, who admirably holds fast to his thoughtful idealism.

That being said, we BOTH agreed on Wellstone, whom we both mourned deeply. The flame war we had was a side effect of the stress from his death, and it inflamed latent frustrations and suspicions we had about each other early in our acquaintance. We had our mutual enemies too. *ahem*

But we also know deep down we're on the same side, and both tougher than a horse's hide. He's a fine human being, and DU is all the better for his presence.
