Poll question: Tonight's flamebait debate: one last "happy holidays" thread
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 11:40 PM by LoZoccolo
Do you agree or disagree with this idea:

Because corporations are entities recognized by the government, and enjoy the benefits thereof, they should not be allowed to have the words that say "Merry Christmas" on them on their premises or advertising because that amounts to government establishment of religion.

5. Bastards!
Anyway, as to your question, since the government isn't run by coorperations (at least in theory), telling a privatly held company they can't express a religous view would mean the state is getting involved in religous affairs, thus violating the seperation of church and state.

3. I'd have to disagree with that one

otherwise it's a very easy step into saying it would be illegal for any human citizen of the country to have religious wording on their homes, their person, or to say it.

And there's a big difference between RECOGNIZED by the government as a legit thing, and being the government.

And besides, all religious institutions are corporations (at least, the vast majority of them) - they're 501(c)3 corporations.
