A guy my husband works w/ tried to tell him he got FREE inaugural tickets
My husband believed him, but when he came home and told me about it I said "My ASS, nothing's free with that inauguration. It doesn't matter if it's just some podunk barbeque one afternoon, you have to pay to go."

This guy claims the tickets are for the MAIN inaugural ball (the biggie) and that the bush campaign gave them to him for free because he has "connections." My husband did laugh at that part, because this guy is no more well-connected than any other shmuck in Texas with a stupid "W" sticker on his car. He made a few phone calls to fellow church members to make sure they got out and voted, and that was the extent of his work.

So armed with this knowledge, my husband confronted him today and asked, nicely, if he could show him the tickets. He acted all interested in them. The guy hemmed and hawed and said they were still in the mail, but he IS getting them for free. Husband said "I read in a news story that tickets to that ball are actually VERY expensive" and the guy got kind of angry and kept insisting he got them for free.

Then get this: he said "I can't go anyway, but I still think it's cool that they sent them to me for nothing. Shows how much they appreciate all I did for the campaign."

"Uh-huh" my husband says "they sent you tickets for FREE that other well-connected people have to shell out hundreds of bucks for, if not more, but you aren't going? Yeah, right."

The guy walked off in a huff. What a liar. Like a little kid caught in an obvious lie.

Now I'm trying to find the news story that talked about ticket prices so I can print it off and my husband can take it up to work tomorrow to put on his desk! BWA!
