because I worked at a drive-in theater as a teenager. It is mindboggling that they were on the bill between cheerleader and moonshiner movies.

32. Yes, I must agree
Its shameful that we employed the services of people like Klaus Barbie, the butcher of lyon, now I learned that Truman warned against hiring war criminals but the joint chiefs did it anyhow, I dunno, I think the soviets handled the nazis well, I am no big fan of Stalin or Stalinism but those people suffered so much by the Nazis more than either of the Brits or the Americans combined.

41. Thanks
I just can't believe we would hire people like Klaus Barbie who tortured so many innocents, I don't know what was with us after we defeated the greatest enemy of all time, fascism, I understand why the government at the time ahhored communism as used by Stalin but as we see later with the Iran-Contra in the Reagan years, American politicans are so willing to be anti communist, they will support people like the Contras to overthrow anything with a left wing outlook, in fact the right wingers in my pol sci class defended this action because of the anti communism. I believe we reinstated the shah of Iran when the PM of Iran in 1953 tried to nationalize his country's oil, and a CIA and British Inteligence overthrew the PM and reinstated the shah who was later overthrown in the revolution of 1979. Sorry for the rant, I went way off topic.

47. I was a little kid in the 1960s during the glory days of NASA...
and Werner Von Braun was always presented as a kindly old rocket scientist helping us out in our "race to the moon" He even appeared on Disney programs! It wasn't later until I discovered that he was SS. I always wondered what the English thought of our embrace of kindly old Werner.
