If not, please do so. Send something. This isn't like campaigns we are used to. The whole world needs to chip in. I'm in to the International Red Cross for $100. So is my girlfriend. I hope you can contribute somehow too.

BTW, it's tax deductible for 2004.

1. Yep.
I didn't send as much as you, but every little bit helps, right?

Thanks for this reminder. My heart goes out to all of the people suffering from this.

5. Hadn't even thought of it.....
I have no idea about how taxes work. I do know that deductible is good. Like giving a car to charity and such.

But what does this mean... If I give 100 dollars to the relief effort... the government gives it back?

6. I know I have something on this somewhere
My mom is an accountant so Im not a whiz with taxes. However, I do remember reading a book or article on how one could choose how they spend their tax dollars through charitable donations.

8. In a perect world I shouldn't even care.
And maybe in a world where I didn't have to pay college loans, on top of Bush cutting Pell grant funding, which may hit me hard.

I just wouldn't mind getting alot of money from the government, since most of my tax money pays for freaking guns and bombs that I don't even want around.

I'm not sure this is even relevant. But yea, my grandfather does my taxes, along with most of my families (but he's a real estate agent... go figure), so I am ignorant on the matter. I usually get a good return though, so he must be doing something right

7. I believe...
It's like reducing your taxable income by $100. That means if you make $10,000, only 9,900 is taxable. You don't pay taxes on that $100. I think it only works if you are itemizing which most people do.

9. Well I expect the death toll to rise....
I'm thinking that I should put in mucho overtime to get some spare change to throw over these guys way. It is so horrible what has happened.

My best friend is teaching english in Thailand, thankfully on the Pacific coast of the country. He is fine, but I am still worried for him because I read about the danger of mosquito-carried viruses due to the massive increase in stagnant water.
