The Washington Times
Hey all -

Just wondering what you guys think of the paper? I might be getting a contract/partnership with them in the very near future and need to know a little bit about the slant and basic info about the Washington Times.

2. Its owned by Rev. Moon....
...and the people who run it are Moonies. If you like dealing with rightwing Republican Moonies, then you'll be OK. Otherwise, it will probably upset you in the long run.

7. The Washington Times and UP wire . . .
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 06:48 AM by TaleWgnDg
The Washington Times and UP wire were both bought by the cult leader of the "Moonies," the "Reverend" Sun Myung Moon who adores George Walker Bush, George Herbert Walker Bush and Falwell as well as Pat Robinson . . . here's a lovely photo of Moon w/ Falwell:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Moon contributes heavily to anything that walks, talks and looks like GWBush. Moon obtained all his monies from bilking and cultivizing young naive kids during the 1960s, 1970s. Moon is the head of the Unification Church which espouses that all property including money must be transferred to Moon. Many parents went after Moon trying to de-cultivize their kids. Many sad stories. Eventually Moon pushed his tainted money into legit businesses. He's big into the fish industries, food packing, frozen foods, jewelry, retail wear. Gordon's frozen fish is one of his industries in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Fresh fish is huge in the orient. Moon is a native of Korea. He was born in North Korea.

You want to WORK for this idiot? Egads. His politics are so far to the right that they're off the radar screen. I have no information about working conditions u/ this ass. Although if I recall correcting some very well-known reporters that worked for UP before Moon bought it, refused to work for him and left UP. Most had worked for many years for UP.

edited to add: I found this url after googling "Sun Myung Moon" . . . however I don't know anything about this url . . . whether its credible or not:

8. Hmmm...
I'd only be dealing with the internet department... but that is interesting information. I don't think I despise anyone as much Falwell... Reminds me of Jack Van Impe... who may also eternally burn in hell. :)

9. here's more fun and games w/ "Reverend" Moon . . .

all quotes from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Washington_Times . . .

_______________________________________________

The Unification Church calls Rev. Sun Myung Moon the "founder" of the Times:

"Fifteen years ago, when the world was adrift on the stormy waves of the Cold War, I established The Washington Times to fulfill God's desperate desire to save this world. Since that time, I have devoted myself to raising up The Washington Times, hoping that this blessed land of America would fulfill its world-wide mission to build a Heavenly nation. Meanwhile, I waged a lonely struggle, facing enormous obstacles and scorn as I dedicated my whole heart and energy to enable The Washington Times to grow as a righteous and responsible journalistic institution." <2> (http://www.tparents.org/Moon-Talks/sunmyungmoon97/sm970617.htm)
However, the Unification Church has been willing to run the paper at a loss to provide a political voice. In 2003, the New Yorker claimed that a billion dollars had been spent since the paper's inception. Critics of the Unification Church claim that operation of the Times is part of an attempt by the Unification Church to gain political influence in Washington, D.C.; to back up this claim, they also refer to the purchase of the UPI newswire service by the Church in 2001 -- a move that gives the Unification Church a press seat on Air Force One. The "Times" was also President Ronald Reagan's preferred newspaper.

Despite being owned by the Unification Church, it claims to be independent of the Church, and claims not to propagate the Church's teachings directly. (Compare Christian Science Monitor.) The Times is in favor of many topics other Christian conservative organizations support, including religious freedom for Christians worldwide and a dislike of government interference in private life. The Times states that it does not proselytize directly for the Unification Church.

10. i think the insider headlines i get
aren't as bias as the paper itself. at least i haven't noticed the slant. its the INTERNET part you are talking about. i only subscribed because i wanted to read an article i guess.

like i said i usually scan the headlines and then get rid of it. but hell everyone needs to eat. if you need this job and it deals with the on-line part of the paper perhaps you should consider taking it until something else comes along. doubt you will have any interaction with the moon man himself or their ideals. just dont read any editorials. lol

21. Be careful not to give the slightest hint of who you are here.
Assume the drone army is already aware of you. (turns around) Yeah, that means you freeper trolls.

Make a diary of "interesting" events. Stockpile damning evidence. Patiently. You have all the time in the world.

Also, choose one of the following personas and stick with it:

1) Apolitical dumbass nerd who only cares about computers and nothing else; or
2) Living-in-mom's-basement dumbass freeper. Discipline yourself to speak "Democrat Party" with a sneer.
