Did anybody watch C-Span's Washington Journal today?
The question was about who should take the lead in the tsunami disaster relief. I've never heard such a bunch of mean, selfish, hateful people in my life. The "reasons" the US should not contribute are; "They're Mushlims over there", "We're broke over here and we should keep the money", "The UN shouldn't play a role because of the Oil for Food scandal", "This country gives too much and isn't properly thanked", etc, etc, etc. It was vomit-inducing.Who else watched this shameful episode?

1. Maybe if we weren't shovelling money to the ultra wealthy 2% here...
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 09:12 AM by terrya
in the form of unnecessary tax cuts, we wouldn't be "broke". And then we could actually help over there.

But, what the fuck, that's just silly me.

2. I didn't see it, but, sadly, I'm not surprised
"Am I my brother's keeper?" is one of the oldest excuses out there.

11. That's an excuse?
Golly I'm dumb. I thought the answer was supposed to be YES, and that the saying was a way of reminding people they are indeed responsible for each other's welfare.

3. I was ashamed of my fellow citizens.

What a bunch of bigots. Later, on a different segment, some goober called in to say that Jews AND the Scots-Irish were cheap and stingy. I must say (as a Scots-Irish myself) that I'd never heard that view expressed. The Jews just never get a break with these bigots.

Edit: No wonder the rest of the world dislikes us.

5. No doubt most of them call themselves Christian, also
It never ceases to amaze me how selfish a large proportion of the population in this country actually is. They couldn't give a flying fuck that there are literally millions of people relying on the rest of the world at the moment for clean water, food and medicine until their countries can get disaster relief in gear.
I sometimes think we need a disaster of similar proportion over here before they'll wake the fuck up.
And I'm pretty sure that none of them find a damn thing wrong with * spending $40 million of OUR tax dollars on his inauguration. If he had even the minimum of class he'd give half of that over for disaster relief.

6. Thanks, WJ watchers...
you never fail to amaze me with your reports of all the a-holes who call into this show. If anyone wants proof of the festering ugliness taking hold in this nation, they need only tune in to hear the rantings and ramblings of idiot CSPAN callers. Scary.

7. Another one of our upstanding citizens just called in
and said the same thing directly to the Ambassador of Indonesia. I'm so disgusted! She said that we in the United States have "suffered enough". I'm glad I overslept and missed the beginning of C-Span.

8. I watched parts before I turned it off
I tried to get through on the phones to let all the yahoos who support this stingy, mean-spirited, privileged administration an earful about the religious tenets of Christ demanding that we help the poor, downtrodden and less fortunate. (I'm also pretty sure the bible doesn't say anything about helping only the people who vote a straight GOP ticket, either.)

Upon reflection it would have just flown right over their little pinheads. They do not see any correlation between what the bible teaches about charity and kindness and their own selfish needs to save tax dollars, cut funding for schools, feeding the poor and homeless, making sure everyone has health care, etc. They certainly aren't going to see the innate kindness in helping devesatated people that are thousands of miles away. If thousands have to die to get a few Muslims - even better for the hate mongering set. If only they could get the "liberal" media to quit clouding their "beautiful" minds with all that death and destruction and get back to the business of covering the upcoming party to enthrone Dim Son once again.

The phone lines were busy, the idiots who got through to spew that nonsense was giving me heart burn first thing in the morning so I turned it off.

Wish just once those assholes would have a quick brain fart and think, "There but for the grace of God, go I." So much for "moral" values from the BushBots. They are good at talking the talk, just like Chimpy, but can't begin to put their faith to real work.

And just for the record - I'm one of those godless, non-practicing, non-believing infidels who just happens to live a more moral, peace loving, kindness spreading life than any of those jerks who have to keep reminding everyone how "religious" they are.

10. I Saw It. You Are Correct! It Was Ridiculous
Some of the people are so clueless. I am absolutely sure that 2 of the callers called in merely for the opportunity to bash the U.N. There was no real answer to the question, merely "Don't let the U.N. be involved, because they're crooked."

Rob even asked one of the idiots why he would say that, and the guy responded, "They just are."

Morons!

Weren't there at least a few voices of reason?

I am so sick of living with a nation full of IGMFU-minded rat bastards. What will it take to wake the clueless up? Was Nader right, perhaps, that only massive meltdown will help any awareness of reality to penetrate their clouded minds?

13. I've heard MSM
both MSNBC and CNN going on about the "stingy" comment mentioning that the US is giving 35 million, but failing to mention that 20 million of that came after the "stingy" comment was made.

14. And no one mentioned that of the top 24 countries who
give financial aid in crisis such as this - the most powerful, the richest, the biggest, baddest, bad ass around - America - rates 24th on the list. Of course, anything over a $1.00 bill in the Salvation Army bucket outside of WalMart during Christmas is too much to spend for these christian sheeple.

The repugs do not consider that anything that happens anywhere but right outside their trailers as "real" news. And tens of thousands of deaths don't count deaths unless it meets their criteria of: 1- must be 'Merican, only 'Merican lives are worth a tinker's damn; 2 - must be a repug - no room for waffling here - repug deaths are to be mourned the rest are Satan's spawn; and 3 - if it is a death connected to a war then the soldier but have died a valiant, heroic death praising the glory of Dim Son, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the war with his dying breath. The casualty automatically loses hero status if the soldier had doubts about the mission or the family is pissed - then they are just unpatriotic and deserved to die.

Can't help but wonder how those assholes can keep planning a garish, tacky, $40,000,000.00 hoopla on the 20th knowing what amoral jerks they are. Guess saying, "Praise Jesus" a couple times erases the bad deeds and they can get back to hurting the world.

15. Strange irony.
It was the religious right that got Shit-for-Brains elected and they can't seem to be the good samaritans that they surely have read about. Must be because the victims are heathens.
