Laura Flanders' KALW show today is about Bill Hicks (1PM ET)
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 09:27 AM by Khephra
On Wednesday's Show: Bill Hicks: Radical Funny
10amPT/1pmET on 91.7 KALW or http://www.yourcallradio.org

Who was Bill Hicks? On the next Your Call, we'll look back at the work and life of the radical comedian who died ten years ago, at age 32. Why did Tom Waits compare Hicks to "a reverend waving a gun around"? And what did Hicks have to say about pro-lifers that got him censored on the David Letterman show? We'll play plenty of Bill Hicks comedy and talk about his short, brilliant career with biographer Cynthia True on the next Your Call with me, Farai Chideya, and you.

2. I miss him...
"Jokes, John : this is what America now fears - one man with a point of view, speaking out, unafraid of our vaunted institutions, or the loathsome superstitions the CBS hierarchy feels the masses (the herd) use as their religion."

He would have had such a fun time in today's target rich enviroment...

4. When this miserable worthless criminal shithead was "elected" the
first time, I had two initial thoughts: "I wish Frank Zappa were still alive, and I wish Bill Hicks were still alive".

6. That's great! At least three of us had the same thought!
Sure wish Bill was here to give us the proper perspective.

7. my wife and I put on our tin foil hats
and say some company killed him whenever we see something from him.

Miss him severely. I came to within a month or so of being able to hang out and party with him. He died before he got to come and do the gig.
