But thankfully it has begun to rain. I'm in Seattle and we are about 6 inches short on our rainfall this year. This is a way bad thing because, and I know you'll get a hoot out of this, we have a drought every summer. And if we start our spring with a deficit, it will be very bad, very early this year.

Granted, January is our wettest month so my worrying may be premature.

Great to hear about the ice melting.

3. yeah,
you guys got it bad.as well as the rest of indiana. this was one of the worst snow storms i can remember and i'm 47.hope thats the last one this winter

4. January Is Always The Worst
I'm in Chicago and we missed out on your snow, but I had quite a shock when I left LA (before the rains) last week with Sunny and 68 and deplaned at O'Hare and it was 0 with -15 wind chills. Ah, the midwestern winter!

I keep warning my kids about "real winters"...ones we had in this area in the late 70's and mid 80's with 15-20 inch snowfalls and -20 temps. We've been lucky in recent years as the extremes haven't been too extreme.
