16. A former Congressman, a local soldier, and Grandpa
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 02:30 PM by ih8thegop
Grandpa, 81, a.k.a. 'Poppa,' died April 29 of a heart attack. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 45 years and was a proud member of the UAW. He served his Country in the Asia-Pacific Theater during the War. He counted his faith (he was raised Lutheran, but he raised his kids Catholic because his wife is Catholic), gardening, and liberalism as hobbies... and he loved us all so much.

Rep. William D. Ford, 77, died in August. He represented the Detroit area in Congress from 1965 to 1995 and chaired a couple of committees.

Pfc. Nicholas Blodgett was killed in action in Iraq in July. He lived in Wyoming, MI.

33. On a local note...
Dr. Jonathan Drummond-Webb was found dead, of an apparent overdose, in his home on Sunday. He was the chief Pediatric Heart surgeon at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Dr. D-W was featured in an ABC documentary about the hospital. In September, Drummond-Webb performed the first successful implant of a miniature heart pump in a 14-year-old boy with a heart defect, keeping him alive until a heart transplant was possible. More about this amazing doctor at the link below.
