Good luck and hang in there. I have never tried to quit, but if I go too long w/out...it sucks.

and be kind to loved ones. Fighting with them will just make you smoke again. Just my two cents. Good luck...

6. You're a better man than me
I was able to give up LSD. I was able to give up marijuana. I was able to give up alcohol. But I can't give up my ciggies. It's my only vice now and it's going to die hard if I don't die first.

Where's the fun in that? You can do it for just another year, you don't want to quit, you just want a little bit to drink and a smoke. :smoke:

16. I thinking of quitting too.
I've done several times before with various levels of success (1.5 years, 2.5 years, etc.).

What are you doing to help you out? Patch? Gum? Hypnosis? Or cold turkey? Are there resources you're relying on?

Just curious.

19. A friend of mine decided to quit once when he was sick
Seemed to be a good jumping off point for him.

Honestly, though, I don't feel like getting sick.

Good luck to you and get well soon.

25. My co-worker has been doing really well on the patch
I think you should purchase the gum or patch just as a back up in case cravings are really bad.

29. Are those friends succeeding with not smoking?
If so, get even closer with them. If you're all in it together, it may be easier to quit and keep it that way.

37. When you quit for 4
how did you stop?

When I was 19, I stopped cold turkey, it lasted for almost 2 years

But at that point, I had only been smoking for a year and it was like only 2 packs a week.

I smoke at least 1 pack a day now.

32. You can do it!
I kicked a 3 pack a day Kool habit cold turkey a few years ago, and it was the best thing that I have ever done for myself.

Best of luck! Remember, the cravings eventually pass and then begin to fade. Once you've gone for awhile without, no matter what your cravings tell you, having a cigarette will NOT make you feel better.

The one thought that kept me from ever lighting up again was that the bastard cigarette companies were trying to kill me.
