Voicemail morons

Why do some people insist on saying "are you there" and "pick up the phone" while they're in voicemail?

my mom always starts talking *before* the beep! :shrug: I always end up with half her message.

She waits for about 5 seconds after the beep to talk, but the machine cuts her off, but she keeps talking.

They were koolaid flavors in the late 1960s/early 1970s. We used to get them at Phillips 66 stations, free with a fill-up, back when gas cost a nickel a gallon or something.

I just remembered the name of the one you're wearing today. It's Cherry Choo-Choo!

The early ones had some offensive names for the cherry and orange flavors, so they got changed in the later packs.

I also remember the big brou-ha-ha over cyclamates artificial sweetener in 1969. That's why the sugar-free packs went back to "just add sugar" in 1970.

We used to drive from Ohio to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan every summer. We'd pass Army convoys getting ready to be shipped out. Sigh. Some things never change. Now my children will remember passing Army convoys getting ready to be shipped out.
