Anyone else not yet have a date for New Year's Eve? |
|
It's especially important for me to celebrate this year since I just started a couple of new businesses on the side that I'm hoping will grow into full-time endeavors, and my 40th birthday is Monday, January 3 (YIKES! I know for you gentlemen that's not a big deal, but for us gals, trust me, it's a very big deal!)
I was supposed to spend the evening with my best friend of 23 years and her boyfriend, but she now has to be out-of-town through the weekend. So, here I am, dateless yet again on New Year's Eve, SIGH. Maybe we should have a DU group gathering Friday night for those of you in the same position!

2. You're welcome to come over here. |
|
It's just me and the hub and kids, unless we can get some of our friends to drop by. We'll have appetizers, goodies, drinks, cards, Trivial Pursuit (SNL and 90s versions), and music.

I'm in Painesville, twenty miles east of Cleveland. Given the area, there'll probably be a blizzard Friday night and we'll all be stuck at home, anyway, lol!

I'm particularly good at..........uh-oh, never mind, we're supposed to behave ourselves on lounge threads now, SIGH.

I'm trapped in rural-ass North Carolina while all of my friends are in California, and there's not even anything to do here unless I want to ring in 2005 in Wal-Mart (shyeah).
So, I'll probably be right here in the DU lounge, sloshed on wine and posting things I shouldn't.

I haven't bothered with NYE for years anyway. It's not even worth bothering to go out, unless there's something pretty special going on.
Don't worry about hitting 40 in a month: I've had some of the best sex of my life in my forties; doncha know, "older women" in their forties are cool these days. :-) Unfortunately, about a month after you hit 40, I'll be hitting 50!

I was thinking about going to our "First Night" celebration in Raleigh, but i"m not too keen on being out on the street alone.
So I'll be here.
I do think I will go to a champagne tasting earlier in the afternoon, though. So I will pick myself up a bottle of bubbly. And have mimosas on NY's Day.

We've been seeing a lot of smokers lately whose lungs must resemble burned out mufflers. Needless to say their SaO2 levels ain't anywhere near normal, even with supplemental O2.

51. The One Time I Ever Had a Date on New Year's Eve |
|
... he PROPOSED, and I was *NOT* ready for that and had to tell him so. Futher: he had informed EVERYONE in his personal life that he would be showing up at events later that night and the next day with his new fiancee. Ugh. Talk about a mess.
NYE was always a big bummer for me before then -- all of that anxiety, expectation, and hype. After the nightmare proposal incident, I finally learned my lesson and started my own NYE tradition the following year: I go to bed early! mmm, a good night's sleep -- what a great way to start the new year. :)
This year: new "special friend" works night shift in a hospital; had to agree to take one of the holidays. He said he always works NYE because it's HIS least favorite holiday too... :loveya: Hooray for me; I'll get my good night's sleep guilt-free!

but I think there is a K-1 (kickboxing) event on pay per view. So maybe I'll just watch a few steroid loaded monsters punch and kick eachother into a bloody pulp.
I dont drink or smoke or anything so I'm boring on party nights, plus I think my freakishly large penis is intimidating to most women... *winks at the ladies and pretends he's not a loser* hey baby...
Can't imagine why I don't have a date...
