The only thing he ever did that I appreciated was Brandy on his boxset. He keeps screwing up Mandy, singing the original lyric, Brandy. Puts the whole shitty song in context.

I have been an Ian Hunter (Mott) fan since 1971! I was SHOCKED, SHOCKED I TELL YOU, to see this poll.

The first solo album is a masterwork. This guy was the best singer with a bad voice in the history of rock! So stylized, but at times couldn't carry a tune if you attached a handle to it, and it was still good! A remarkable ability!

I still have every Mott album and all but one Ian albums, all converted to CD. The 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Mott albums were my raison d'etre as a young rock musician. (I switched from playing exclusively jazz piano to singing in a rock band when i was 17.) I wanted to act like Bowie, and rock like Mott!

Thanks RKZ, for resurrecting some good memories.
