Okay, we all know CSI has very little in common with cop reality- although a great part of the technology is there, it's so vastly expensive that sending every hair follicle downtown to the lab is prohibitive in the real world. Still, the storylines are for the most part pretty cool, and it's a nice way to kill a boring evening hour.

The original CSI was pretty groundbreaking in its heyday. William Petersen made his waves in To Live And Die In L.A., and I still enjoy his work. His show was the first, and although they made a lot of mistakes, it got better over time.

Moving on to Miami, David Caruso really rubs me the wrong way with his William Shatner-like style of delivery. It got old about five minutes into the first episode. Not to mention that every scene seems to be incredibly overlit. Take out a few of the klieg lights and try again, fellas!

CSI New York is more of the same-- Solomon was right when he said "There is nothing new under the sun.". Sinise understates his role, which is cool, but I REALLY wish they'd knock off the sepia-toned scenes. Open a window, people!
