According to my friend, protesting just isn't 'in' anymore |
|
She said something to the effect that she doesn't pay any attention to any of the news out of Iraq anymore b/c it's all the same and depressing. I said that apathy among most Americans is pretty much the problem. Then she said that protests just aren't in and they wouldn't do any good anyway. This happened over IM so I couldn't quite express to her how stupid of a comment that was. I'm sure she's back in her happy world pretending that Iraq isn't happening.

1. I never protested to be fashionable. |
|
And I would hope no one at DU ever has, either!

2. Heck, I was never even fashionable while protesting. And there |
|
is some pretty unfortunate news footage of me being interviewed, to prove it.

3. Yeah, the fact that she said that made me think she just doesn't get it. |

'It' being most everything. Imagine the world we would live in if everyone had said "nah, protesting won't do anything" sigh.
