Poll question: Steak sauce: yea or nay?
I say nay. The only thing I can tolerate on my steak is Tabasco or occasionally Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce. That's in terms of sauces.

Otherwise, I'll take pretty much any marinade under the sun (especially teriyaki... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm) and obviously salt + freshly ground peppercorn.

2. Depends on the steak
Filet Mingon? NO WAY!!!!

But flank steak almost HAS to be marinaded in something and why not A1?

Same with any kind of sirloin - stuff is just not the most flavorful ya know?

4. Lea and Perrins on Filet Mignon
I RARELY eat red meat. But once every couple years when I do it has to have A1 or L&P.

8. If it's steak, there's no need for sauce, IMO.

I did have an aunt by marriage who said she was an adult before she knew there was such a thing as steak you didn't pound with a mallet before cooking. I guess that would require sauce, too.

9. If you like Tabasco, try this, if you haven't already...

It's a crisis at Effingbroke Manor if I run out of this stuff!

11. Another approach:

Next time you're near a Costco, pick up a package of "Montreal Steak Seasoning" (McCormick). Then give each steak a light breading on both sides before grilling. Your mouth will thank you for it :9
