Don't you HATE it when
you ask a serious question and the person just blows you off or assumes you aren't being serious? Don't you hate it when they ASSUME you are being sarcastic even though you gave every indication that you were sincere and they respond all smart ass?

I HATE THAT.

And what's WORSE is when you present a reply to their misguided smart-assness and they don't even answer.

FINE! I don't CARE! I don't WANT an answer! WHO CARES?

:grr:

5. No calling out other DUers.
Dammit.

I got a response, actually, but it was not really what I was asking about.

Oh well.

3. I empathize, but it's hard to tell sometimes. On the second matter,
people do leave the computer. They might not have seen your reply yet. For example, even when I am technically here, in the sense that my browser has the lounge page up, I might be off walking my dog for an hour or so.

7. This has been a nasty night on DU.
People doubting simple factual statements;
People criticizing abuse victims;
People issuing jingoistic statements about how nobody helps the USA when we have problems.

Haven't seen it this nasty in months.

As Big Dog says, "I feel you pain." If they blow you off, their answer is probably not worth the bandwidth.

9. Damn! I've been missing out
Although I did have a wonderful evening with my girlfriend. I love it when DU implodes though. Pull up a lawn chair, grab a beer and watch the fireworks.

10. Months?
Have you already forgotten the bloodletting in November? That was ugly. This is all aftershocks to that, IMHO.

Then maybe we could establish some order here. I like having all my flamewars in one place for easy browsing. :)

Rules don't apply and it's like the Wild West of DU. I kind of like it.

20. Interestingly, I love the cold.
Born in Buffalo, NY ... on 3 polar icebreakers with seven trips to Antarctica and five to the Arctic, stationed in Alaska -- love Maine.

My wife now, she's different. Even in 60 degree rooms, I have to play blast furnace.

21. We lived in Wyoming when I was a kid
Now I live in Southern Arizona. When given the choice, I hightailed it out of below-freezing zones. It seems different people have different thermal comfort zones.

19. That was structured and cathartic. You're right it was nasty.

I'm talking about stupid, weird nastiness. Some guy kept questioning me on a simple factual statement about a news event today! Went on and on until I produced the goods. That kind of fucked up is troubling because it's weird and random. I thought the Admins were brilliant to set up that yelling forum after the election.

I see you found my acrimony! LOL!

It's all good now. I rarely ever get pissed off at internet stuff. This was just one of those rare moments.

17. Welcome to the internet !
eventhough DU is way cool, and there are many great people on here, it's still the internet. An anonymous (mostly) bulletin board. Try not to take it too seriously, although I have gotten worked up as well and probably will again.
