I can't have coffee! It messes with my ticker. I live in Seattle. Now tell me - Is that irony or does it just suck?

I'll probably go there eventually. This is a new development in the heart department.

5. My heart's beating pretty good this morning. |
|
I have sleep apnia.
If I sleep on my couch, I'm OK, cause my head is bent down and I can breath. But if I sleep on my bed, I can't breath after I fall asleep, and get weird heart palpatations all day.
Anyway, I'm fine today. So yipee.

6. Do you have insurance? |
|
Sorry you just woke the usually latent registered nurse in me. If you have insurance, you should be using a CPAP. You've been evaluated for this sleep apnea, yes?

8. No insurance, but I may look into that stuff |

A friend of mine has one of those breathing devices, that he said he'd loan me to try out. I also see cheap anti-snoring remedies on sale on my computer.
I'll wait and see what happens, these heart complaints this week really are an attention getter with my friends, though...

9. When in fact, they are probably benign |
|
It's the sleep apnea that will end up killing you. People think it's benign. It isn't, not by a longshot.
I'm so sorry you don't have insurance. I was without it for a number of years but as a nurse, I had the tools to learn how to be my own physician with the help of overseas meds. It's funny, my doctor is now having to deal with a nurse who won't hand over the reins! He'll get used to it or I'll get a new doc.
Since you don't have insurance, do try using those breathe right strips, don't drink alcohol before bed and always sleep on your side (sew a tennis ball in the back of a sleep shirt to help) and if you're overweight, lose it ASAP. Those are the things you can do for yourself. Unfortunately, even if you borrow your friend's CPAP, it's set for him and it may or may not be at the right setting for you.

I hope I don't take the dirt nap for at least another twenty years, at least I don't have to worry about living long enough to end up in a nursing home. As far as being fat, I'm already thin.

many are thin who have sleep apnea. At least with the heavier folks, you have somewhere to go. I'm someone who can aleviate most of my symptoms by the advice I gave you but if I even gain 5 lbs, boom, I'm back there. It keeps me honest when I want to eat fatty foods.

Otherwise, not much of a coffee guy. I'll steal those donuts, though.

I can't even have the donuts! I have celiac sprue along with my myriad other problems. I can't have gluten.
But I'm going to quit complaining now because I actually have a kick ass wonderful life. Sans coffee and donuts.

Even if I'm really tired, it doesn't keep me up. We just bought a thermal coffee pot, and it was worth it. But the best coffee I think is the kind you make in those old drip coffee pots, you know, you have to boil the water, then pour it over the grinds. I had to pull the old one out this morning because there wasn't any electricity. That was a smooth cup of java I'll tell you. You can buy them on eBay.
