Lets see, what is safe to post now, hmmmmm

I don't know these cats, don't really care much about them, I just figure it's one post I can make without getting in trouble.

The two pillars of 'political correctness' are, 1) willful
ignorance, and 2) a steadfast refusal to face the truth

5. I'll just make the obligatory reference to Hitler
And we can call this thread done.

The cat in the middle looks a bit like Hitler, if he had been smaller and covered in white hair (with pointy ears no less).

That's a terrible, terrible burden for a kid to have to shoulder.

Nice disclaimer, BTW. I think you just about covered all the important constituencies.

16. My brother hates the icing - won't eat it.
"It's just sugar," I tell him, but he won't listen. He won't even eat buns that have had the icing removed - he needs un-iced ones. Given the 3 inches of icing, he would likely barf.

What can I say? He's my brother.

11. Know what you mean...
...I never thought that DU would buy into the post-election media-whore stuff that all anyone cares about now is "morality" and "values", whatever that means, and whomever defines it?! Oh hell, I just said "whore" in this post!!!! Its lock-down time!

19. I am so
tired of the PC morality trend that is going on around us now, it really does stifle free expression. The one thought that comes to mind is how when Janice flashed us a breast or Howard said something on the radio we rallied and spoke out against the prudes that flooded the airwaves with complaints, at the same time we bounced up and down on the "alert" button when something here offended us. It must only be me but I truly see some hypocrisy there. Why is it when we see something that is offensive we just don't voice our opinion and move on? Is it because we have someone in authority we can report to? I remember those kids in elementary school, "Hey Ms Johnson Mikey is picking his nose!!!" I didn't like them then and I don't like them now. As adults do we need a governing body to tell us what is politically correct to discuss? Do we need someone to tell us when to laugh? Would we tombstone Lenny Bruce?

...and it seems to me, that some moderators need to use some "common sense" on their part, instead of being a reactionary robot. Besides, our side is not supposed to be reactionary...

If someone doesn't like an opinion, then they should speak up, and express their own. I've got no problem with that, hey, even if it differs from mine. And who is to decide what is offensive, or not? The Morality Police? The Judgement Brigade? The Moderators? The RNC? The DLC? It all sounds Orwellian to me.

And yes, with respect to some of the threads I've seen "locked" on here, Lenny Bruce would be "tombstoned" on this "Liberal" site, if he were posting today....

31. I'm
truly at a loss at how we can change it. Here is something to ponder, 52% of America voted for bush. Out of that 52% how many were moderates who became disillusioned by the political correctness of the left? how many were "fed up" with the far left and some of the silliness involved? How many votes did we loose because some on the left wanted to attack Santa? What did we loose when some Doc Martin shoe wearin' PETA person ran into Petco and freed a goldfish? Ever see any Doc Martins? They're made out of like 3 or 4 cows each. At what point did Steve Martin's cat juggling become so heinous that it had to be shielded from our eyes?

Believe it or not I'm pretty far left but I also know what has turned moderates away. The ability to laugh at something once thought to be funny has become associated with almost hate-crime status. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be flamed but in all honestly I could care less, I'll continue laughing.

20. first and foremost
I must apologize to all the lumberjacks and anyone associated with the lumberjack industry.

They may smell fine what with all that pine cutting, I mean we buy pine scented air fresheners right? Maybe musk cologne is actually lumberjack squeezin's.

32. so
do they get Musk from lumberjack squeezin's? I'm in the Pacific Northwest and I see alot of lumberpeople, they are some hard working people. I like to buddy up with them because they give me some interesting pieces of wood from time to time for furniture projects.

This is not a sex thread, I don't get lumberjack "wood" in the way some might think.

18. I'm the proud house mate of the DU dog. His name is Wellstone!
I really do need to post pics of him.

Here's the story...last February, a fellow DUer witnessed her neighbor kicking this poor little puppy (and neglecting him the rest of the time - he was left outside). She asked other DUers if she should "rescue" him and I said I would happily adopt him if she decided to "rescue" him. A different DUer made the suggestion of naming him Wellstone and the rest is history. Now he's sleeping on the couch and is the most spoiled dog I've ever had! :) Doggy Klaus was good to him this year too. :)

It all happened in the lounge. I've been promising pics ever since but have yet to deliver. I should do a big Wellstone the DU dog picture post in Feb. to celebrate his one year birthday.

25. I only like other people's cats....
I always have been and always will be a dog person. I get along with other people's cats (probably because I don't have to change the kitty litter) but the one and only time I ever owned a cat, it was disastrous. I'll stick with dogs from now on. The kitten picture at the top of this thread was pretty damn precious though :).
