Is it time to talk about a ballot initiative supporting California secession?

Numerous people responding to Move On California have suggested we move forward with a ballot initiative for California secession. Some kind of ballot initiative is something that we would like to move toward with a degree of caution.

1. What do people think of New York, Cali , Wash, Orgeon and other
blue border states joining Canada. Blue states have more in common with Canada than Red USA. It can be done in a non hostile way kind of like a common market set up. But the direct governments different for each area. I would have to move- but I would be more willing to go to a blue boarder state than all the way into Canada.

2. I don't think we need Canada. I mean, what would they bring to the table?
I'm asking honestly, I really don't know what purpose they would serve.

3. Canada- would bring experience in an independent national government

to the table- more people with similar attitudes and language for the most part. And even stronger national economy. Much more resources than a only blue USA or an independent CA by itself. I am for the horseshoe design that is shown on the site.- plus it would bring all blue areas together- we could access all blue areas through Canada without having to go through "Jesusland." Jesuslanders might try to do the same thing that was done to women in a "Handmaids tale." On edit: My dream if Red states are going to continue to stay that way- do a citizens excahge all reds in a blue state who wish to relocate to Jesusland could do so- all of us blues living in red could do so - I would as a blue guy living in a sea of red shit.

4. Okay, well that works for me. Go to that website and suggest that
I heard the head guy from moveoncalifornia on a talk show. He is open to any and all ideas. People were calling in saying he was treasonous and should be put in jail, etc. Of course, they were sycophant Republicans. I am for whatever gets us away from the uneducated hillbillie red states! Every year California pays something like 85 billion dollars to the feds more than they (feds) give us back. We could use that to pay off our deficeit, protect our borders, etc. blah blah blah

6. I don't know if we are going to get anywhere with this guy and his site

Seems unprofessional. Lawrence O'Donnell brought up Nixon- in comparision to Bush- who wanted to leave when McGovern lost - Mass.. that was the only state that voted for hin along with DC.

8. He seemed okay to me when I heard him on the radio
He said at this point he is just trying to put together a group to explore the impact California secession would have.... I was like, let's just do it, let's not explore it. Maybe he's a little too hesitant to lead the crusade.

9. As a blue in red area I am all in favor of a serious campaign becuse it
may wake up people in blues states. I don't believe secession will happen. But if the things he said- "we pay most taxes to support things we don't want - get little back for our investment" become common knowledge it could make many take notice. If the campaign just makes Republican, even so called moderate Republican Senators and congressman easier pickings in blue states that would help out quite a bit.

5. two words: natural resources
the comined population of California, New York and the other of the bluest blues exceeds that of Canada, and the combined economic might is far greater. We'd own the place, and have all that unspoiled timber and mineral resources to ourselves. otherwise, I can't think of a single reason.

7. This is proably why it will not happen Jesusland would be insignificant
with removal of the states shown CA itself is the 7th largest economy in the world.

11. They get to keep their political and economic freedoms
if they stay in the Independent Nation of California. I don't see the problem. If they don't like it (echoing back the refrain they so often sing) they can get the fuck out.

Here's one Bay Arean all for the idea.

13. Well we live amongst them now and it works out because we have
the majority. It's just when they have the majority that things go so terribly wrong

15. Hey that's great!
Even if there's not enough support right now for secession, maybe it would wake people up to the fact that many of us are not willing to sit idly by while our nation gets hijacked.
