what Vidal is saying about how we are really the most highly taxed people in the world--not in the sense of percentage, but in value. We pay in but get nothing back because it all goes for weaponry.

Europeans may pay in a high percentage but they get it back in the form of social services.

Not a hard concept to understand. Really.

Our military costs dwarf pretty much every other nation combined. It is not a troop issue. It's a billion dollars for one plane, a million for one missile. It starts adding up. We could literally fund about any social program that you can think of, with the stuff that actually doesn't work, or isn't being used.
