Not surprisingly
SO is a big Who fan as well as a Clash fanatic - I claim he's seen all 20 of their farewell tours.

(he's also into Peter Gabriel, Joe Jackson and Elvis Costello - I share the latter two with him, at least)

My first concert was America - I thought Dewey Bunell was cute.

128. For John Denver fans: You won't believe what I found today.
An original oil of John Denver, done in 1975 by some anonymous fan. It's actually not bad. Done in silhouette, but you can clearly tell it is him from the glasses. It cost me a whopping ten cents at a junk store.

I can't decide whether to hang it near the music area of my home, or give it to the local music store.

and there was this other band, Must, they were pretty cool.

My friend threw up on my shoes though, and after we got cleaned up we had to go sit in the nose bleed seats.

It still rocked hard core though! I love Aerosmith! :headbang:

in the mid-60's..Paul Revere and The Raiders, The Sonics, Kingsmen,etc... even saw 'Them' at a local venue and nearly every Friday night, for one year, at a Seattle R & B Night Club in the Central District.

But I guess, the first Concert venue we went to was: a Motown Review at the Seattle Civic Center in 1967.

58. I'm in Kenosha
so we'd go to Summerfest almost every night it was on, when it was cheaper. Now we only go once usually for Tom Petty. But back in the 70's we'd go to a concert a week since we live between Chicago and Milwaukee, and they were cheaper than about $20. or so. But Summerfest was definately the party to go to (our vacation was usually the same time)for the whole 10 days...

he's been there (and that's a lot). I even have a tattoo based on the Wildflowers graphic. That was one of the best things about growing up in Milwaukee area - Summerfest back in the day. Pre-Amphitheater days. When you'd wait in line all day to see Mr. Mister and Belinda Carlisle on the "main" QFM stage drinking wine coolers. Then... make the mad dash over benches and people to get the best seats when they finally opened the gates.... good times.

We've probably partied together at a show or two... :toast:

74. Probably
The one thing about Petty's concerts is it's like a "happening" everyone knows all the words and sings, and they are all races and ages. It's like a Pilgrimage for my daughter and me. Last year we also went to see Foo Fighters and saw Moody Blues too (2003) This year just Petty.

The free stages usually have really decent acts too. There is still alot to see and do, but it is really expensive now and too much cement and cops. I liked it better when it was Hippy Haven...

Did she & Gill fall in love while she was still married? We make fun of the RR's hypocrisy, but the fact is that they're humans too and they also make mistakes.

I never knew she did secular albums at all.

I cannot remember which concert I saw first. If it was Michael W. Smith (with Kathy Trocolli) or REO Speedwagon (with Survivor). Both were in the Twin cities in 1983 or 1984, and I have seen both Smith and Survivor twice now. Survivor was in Clear Lake, Iowa a few years ago and Smith played after a KC Wizards game.

That was how my friends met him. After an Amy Grant concert, Amy was being mobbed and they were "Let's go talk to this guy". At the 2nd concert I was too far away to see if he was using the same band.

I know, I know, I'm hanging my head in shame. But to my credit, my second concert was to see the Beatles immitation group "1964", in 1991.

142. 1977 - Peter Frampton - and it was horrible in so many ways ....
1. I attended with my sister (10 years older than I). We smoked a bowl or two with some guys in the seats behind us (total strangers) and when the lights went down, one of them started groping me. When I told my sis, instead of turning around and confronting them, she decided we'd get up from our floor seats and go find someplace else to sit (aisle steps).

2. Said sis would wave her hands and scream "Peter! Peter!" at the top of her lungs everytime he faced the direction of the section we were in. *cringe*

3. While walking around the arena, I passed my big high-school crush / dreamboat - on a date with my #1 nemesis.

In retrospect, I wish I'd been able to stay in the floor seat and enjoy the groping.

Pittsburgh, 1975. It was the Derek and the Domino days, and they were the opening act for Santana! The guitar gods were out in force that night. <sigh> I wish I could live that night all over again!!!! :o:

Honest to God. I lived in small-town New Hampshire and had just graduated from high school. We went to Woodstock because the drinking age in NY was 18.

170. I was 6 years old in 1967
My hippy uncle took me to see Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. By the time I was 8 he'd also taken me to see Herman's Hermits and Paul Revere and the Raiders (during their long hair and fringed buckskin days).

I didn't get to another concert until 1977 when I saw Yes.
