Grateful Dead song sequence
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 07:19 PM by darkstar
(inspired by ChavezSpeaks's threads...)

Somewhere in the midwest, 91-94, St. Louis, KC, Deer Creek or Chicago.

SET II

Box of Rain
Looks Like Rain
Samba in the Rain

what, three songs in and no Jerry tune?!?!?!?

wait...

Here Comes Sunshine

Those fellas could mess w/ your head in lots of ways. Help me remember when/where this was and win your own personal box of rain and a lifetime supply of the other one.

Or share your own tale in token rhyme, suggesting rhythm...

Lets try setlist.com instead

I'm going to say. . . .

07/20/94 (Wed) Deer Creek Music Center - Noblesville, IN

Set 1: Feel Like A Stranger, Peggy-O, Beat It On Down The Line, High Time, Stuck Inside A Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again, Childhood's End*, Don't Ease Me In

Set 2: Box of Rain > Samba In The Rain > Looks Like Rain > Here Comes Sunshine > Corrina > Mathilda** > Drums > Space > Uncle John's Band > I Need A Miracle > Morning Dew, E: Johnny B. Goode

A close second (though not a midwest show) would be

06/30/95 (Fri) Three Rivers Stadium - Pittsburgh, PA

Set 1: Hell In A Bucket, West L.A. Fadeaway, Take Me To The River, Candyman, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Bird Song, Promised Land

Set 2: The Rain Song, Box Of Rain, Samba In The Rain, Looks Like Rain > Terrapin Station > Drums > Space > I Need A Miracle > Standing On the Moon, E: Gloria

6. Why thank-you
It appears I stand corrected in terms of song sequence.

What a beautiful way to have lost one's mind....

:hi:

7. That setlist.com site rules
for finding stuff like this.

You can enter like two songs and chose the set they were from, it'll do the rest :).

Make sure you choose Grateful Dead instead of the default "The Dead" for the band though :).

2. I give any dead post an awesome rating.
but I could never remember playlists, no matter how special. My buds could, tho - but we're all east coast.

3. I did a LOT of tape trading for a long time.
Had about 800 hours or so of tape :)

Much of it is now in storage, and is being replaced with digital copies anyway :).

So, I was forced to memorize set lists to make sure I properly labelled all my tapes :).

12. Hey steely, nice to meet you.
I couldn't ever recall setlists either. As I said below, the sequenced title thing made this one memorable.

Don't know about where you live, but in some parts of the country having a steely on yer car is probabale cause.

Just kidding. I think.

:hi:

14. Yeah Steely, welcome to DU :)
Believe it or not, they WERE using Dead stickers as probable cause in Nevada during the Vegas shows in 94 and 95.

16. Thanks for the welcome!
Come to think of it, I modified a "stealy" so it wouldn't be too obvious to those I didn't want to share my secret smile with.

Sorry for the late post.
Yes, my inability to recall setlists somehow makes me feel unworthy for some reason.

A "steely" on my car? uh , you got me there.

as in decal??

and a hearty DU Deadhead hello. Were you at the show too? Consult ET Awful's resource?

Anyhow, good to meet you. Why don't you tell us about your, you know, weird experiences with the traveling circus?

:smoke: :hi:

On edit: Oh yeah. "I wasn't at the show." Sizzle, bubble...cough...cough, chough

9. Oh what fun I'm having now !
ET Awful and I have already gone on here about our UNMITIGATED JOY of having that movie--and 90 minutes of extra songs--in such kick-ass form.

How cool that yr Sunshine and Rain posts triggered the memory of that for me (and i'm no set list guru either; it was the subject matter and sequence that was so memorable.)

As for calliope, I'll go first for the low hanging fruit:

Music Never Stopped

:hi:
