I accidentally caught part of the local news(Chicago)
One of the stories: "Tsunami: Could it happen here?" complete with graphics and animations of Lake Shore Drive being drenched by gigantic waves.

Can someone tell them LAKE Michigan is a LAKE? It is a great Lake, but it would be impossible to have a fuckin' Tsunami destroy downtown Chicago.

Gawd.:eyes:

1. THAT is the reason I don't watch local news.
What was it? Channel 2, 5, 7, or 9?

5. I'm not sure what Station....
I was picking up an order at the deli and I couldn't see the bottom of the screen, and since I don't watch local news, I can't recognize any of the anchors. It was absurd. They showed a computer generated image of the Drake under water halfway up the building. :eyes:

7. oh GAWD...
The sad part is that thousands of Chicagoans are going to bed tonight in fear of downtown being underwater tomorrow.

3. But we have to scare the sheeples!!!!
I don't think Houston stations have gone so far as to suggest a tsunami in the Gulf, but then again, I haven't been watching them.

4. When I used to drive home from Loyola,
during a rainstorm sometimes, Lake Shore Drive would be flooded. They had to close two lanes. Of course, that's nothing like a tsunami, but it pissed me off.

was broadcast on Fox 32!!!

I have heard of seiches occuring on the Great Lakes, but these are caused by weather conditions, not anything to do with earthquakes, volcanoes, etc.

Besides there are no volcanoes in the immediate Chicago area that I know of, hell, there aren't even any good sized hills; and the nearest fault line I believe is the New Madrid.

Had to be a product of Fox 32...
