Help please....How many bags of chips should I buy for 25 teens |
|
Also, how many bottles of sparkling cider? There will also be sodas.
My daughter and I are having a huge disagreement so I need some input.

...my recommendation,
1 bag per three kids, unless they are mostly boys.
1 bottle cider per three kids.
Also, rather than all those chips, my kids do like the fruit/veggie trays with dip and it is at least a little healthier.
Have fun!!

Is this a party being thrown by someone else that you've been asked to help provide for?

14. Okay, that's different. |
|
In that case I agree with DS1. Three or four bags of chips and two or three bottles of cider.

9. If they are drinking pop, they won't drink that much sparkling cider. |
|
I'd get 10 bottles of cider, and figure two kids per bag of chips.

17. Since you are only helping out... |
|
I would suggest 5 bags of chips, a big container of salsa for dipping, a veggie plate and 3 liters of soda...
Nothing will go to waste.

20. Sincerely, this depends on the size of the bags |
|
and whether they'll have eaten dinner before they get at them.
If you're talking about a straight calculation of snacks and appetisers after dinner has been eaten, - 6 oz. of food per person and 4-6 oz. of sparkling cider or ginger ale for a toast. That total weight in food can be distributed around all the food provided. Pretzels, chips, vegies and the infamous Liption Onion Soup Dip, or whatever your group is serving.
If they won't have eaten dinner the chances are excellent that they'll go through 8 - 12 oz of food per person depending on size and appetite, perhaps as much as a pound. I say that warning that I once catered a wedding buffet for a Samoan football player and his family where the entire buffet for 20 was consumed by the first 4 guests. Some kids are going to be bigger eaters, some will be finicky food-snubbers. The numbers generally work, but if you think you'll have more big, strapping members of the champion rowing team, - go heavier. If you've got the allergy and asthma sufferers club, or a bunch of young girls who want to be "America's Next Big Supermodel," you can likely go a little toward the light end.

21. None if they are in the Marines |
|
My son's buddy is in Paris Island boot camp right now. He wrote that some kid's mom sent 80 bags of Fritos for his training company and the Drill Instructor made the poor kid eat all 80 bags himself in the barracks over several hours. I hope he never tells his mom, but you know he has to be writing: "Dear Mom, PLEASE do not send food."

22. All I can say is to buy a whole lot of bags |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 06:48 PM by RebelOne
because I doubt they will go to waste. Actually, I would guess to buy one bag per person, which would add up to 25 bags or if you buy jumbo sizes, I'd say about 10 bags total.
