I phrased my first message the wrong way out of nerves. I left right as I posted, meaning I was afraid to leave everything I have and I would not know what to do if something happened to my building. THAT is what I meant. Anyway, all is well and the fire was caused by some moron on the 10th floor microwaving a towel. I am not even going to ask why. The reason I was unsure was the fact that there was not an alarm sounding on my floor. Only on the upper-floors were the alarms on and people were evacuated. My floor was fine.
Everything is fine, and the only thing damaged is this guy's kitchen, microwave and ego. Now there are some hot firemen downstairs in the lobby...I was in the elevator with one...I wanted to ask him for a private fire-saftey lesson, but I didn't :P.
On Edit: I used the time after I left the building to go to Walgreens, and when I walked home, the FOX News truck was parked nearby...I had to giggle:).

That guy sounds like a total moron. Once, in my dorms last year, some jerk put a fish in the microwave and the fish caught on fire. The whole building had to be evacuated at 4 am. I'm glad to hear you're all right though.

4. I've put a damp towel in the microwave. |
|
It's good for some heat on a sore neck. I can't imagine it causing a fire, though.

7. towel in the microwave? He watches too much Seinfeld. |
|
At least Kramer learned his lesson when his coat burned and smelled like calzone.

8. That was a pizza oven. Not a microwave. |
